Anyone else getting email about HR2159?????

Can't seem to find any information that isn't connected with a "we need more money" message!

Does this thing have legs????

The bill allows the State Attorney General the authority to ban a person they deem a terrorist from obtaining a firearms licence or purchasing a firearm.

In addition, it allows the AG to withhold any information they deem "sensitive to national securty" from the reason for denial.

In a court challenge, the AG can submit his amended reason for denial (with information withheld) unless the petitioner or the court request that the court review the original reason for denial, but only for the purpose of verifying that the amended accurately represents the original.

Add to that, the bill establishes the civil "Perponderence of the Evidence" and "reasonably believe" standards of proof for denigning someone their constitutional right. Imagin for a minute that power in Cockly's hands.

‘‘The Attorney General may deny the transfer of a firearm pursuant to section 922(t)(1)(B)(ii) if the Attorney General determines that the transferee is known (or appropriately suspected) to be or have been engaged in conduct constituting, in preparation for, in aid of, or related to terrorism, or providing material support thereof, and the Attorney General has a reasonable belief that the prospective transferee may use a firearm in connection with terrorism.’’;

[sarcasm] Well, based on how well the "no fly" list was/is implemented and maintained, what could possibly go wrong? Only terrorists would be against this legislation. [/sarcasm] [rolleyes] [thinking] [angry]
