Is it possible to install a compliant muzzle device on a rifle without threading? Would it be possible to have the barrel threaded and have a device pinned on by a gunsmith?

Thanks

I don't think you'd want to mess with the 1st idea, just do the second one (thread it and have a device pinned on).

And if you haven't bought the rifle yet, just get a non-compliant version and have a smith fix it for you.

I've used this guy more than once, ADCO firearms from Ohio http://www.adcofirearms.com/ prices pretty reasonable, and I've experienced super fast turn around, one time 6 days from the monday I shipped it, returned to me on Sat. First rate work. He's been mentioned here before.

Depending on the type of the gun they make slip on devices that are move over sized protectors.

Most barrels can be threaded if you pull them from the action by single point threading in a lathe .

Cnc warriors sell a kit to thread one your self . Uses a tool to center the threading die. If the od is too big they also sell a self centering cutter to turn it down by hand just using a hand drill to spin the bit.

I have a sig 556 scm with a target crown. The muzzle blast and flash when I shoot 5.56 is intense. I'm looking to tone it down a bit with a compliant muzzle device.

I recently did this on M&P10 for a friend. I turned the barrel down and single point threaded it then pinned and welded the muzzle brake. Of course, on an AR it's simple to remove the barrel.

Chances are the new muzzle device will increase the 'blast' as a lot of the concussion is directed to the side and back depending on the devise you get.

I dont think the the muzzle device will help with the muzzle report? If a standard target crown in 223 is load for you the brake/comp wont help. may slightly help with the flash buy sending it in several directions

You might want to look at linear compensators like the Levang or KIES comps for that. They are not very effective as brakes, but do a decent job of directing muzzle blast forward. It's especially helpful shooting under a roof. I've had one (from a now defunct company) on a 16" AR for a while, and it works well for that.

I would be interested in that, I just want to direct the muzzle flash forward. I asked 1776 gunsmithing and they will thread the barrel and pin the device for me.

http://aresarmor.com/store/Item/effin-acomp556 this looks good. Would this device be MA compliant?
Basically any thing that doesn't say flash hider.
If your not sure most flash hiders have a much bigger hole then the bullet for the exit.
After the federal awb went away . The ATF stop doing test on muzzle devices. So in mass any new brakes since 04 are up in the air .

Or just dgaf a use what ever you want . Since since the state would do the same .

mass compliant aside the review says its LOAD. what your trying to avoid. I just cant see a extension like primary arms link doing much of anything for report.
16" barrels with small fast moving projectiles are loud. now for looks there are some cool looking comps out there for sure.
