Just took a pic of my collection

Here's mine

Before you ask, many/most of these were imported into the area when I made the official move from Alabama. I was able to pick up three nice pistols just before the move that I cannot otherwise procure in a certain Commonwealth.

Description:
-Old Marlin .357 Lever Action (my hunting rifle when I was a wee pup back in Pennsylvania)
-Chinese SKS
-Plainfield M1 Carbine (circa 1960's)
-Springfield M1A (my newest acquisition)
-my AR-15 (set up as close to how I carried it in the Army as I could legally get it)
-the wife's AR-15
-the wife's Sig P238 (a remake of the Colt Mustang... and an excelent CCW)
-the wife's XD-9 Sub Compact
-My XD-45 Compact
-My Colt 1991 (this is actually my class pistol from college (like a class ring, only better). Eat that liberal arts schools

Finally, my new Pelican case (with artistic expression to show I have a sense of humor) for my AR and XD.

No Garand? That's sad.

I have a nice variant '03 Springfield[grin]. 1919 Rock Island receiver, completed and barreled at Springfield 8/1931. Mostly German otherwise. Hope to graduate to a K43 someday, and perhaps a Garand.

Thanks man. Many, many, many hours of wet sanding and polishing to make the frame and other external parts look nickle plated. Truth be told, I recently had a mishap where I was transporting the thing and dinged the crap out of the slide in a few spots.

I may need to reach out to John from REMSPORT to deck the sides of the slide and get rid of the nicks - some are deep.

Should I have it alum blasted again, or polish it, or blacken it? Open to suggestions on that one from all.

I'd have it blasted again. I like the textured look of it in contrast to the frame. I think it makes the barrel look that much more glorious. But then again, I'm sure it'd look good polished, too.

Do you have better pictures of that hand cannon?

That thing is going to make me lose a good portion of my life to building one.

Thanks,

Most of them were given to me by my Father or Uncles. I bought the AR and the P22 myself. I still have a ways to go, my "wish list" grows daily.[smile]

Unrelated question but where did you get that zombie sticker on your riffle case?

A Krag-Jorgensen is on the shopping list; specifically a Danish Krag. My grandfather was in the Danish Army from 1929-1933, 3rd Rgt., and carried the long infantry version.

Smoothest action ever made - probably weakest too with the 1-lug bolt. However, for fun I competed several times at 1,000 yards (yes, 1K) with my Krag which had a 1:9.5" twist barrel and could stabilize a low drag bullet. No one could believe I was hitting paper with a bullet that went subsonic at 800yards. Fun.

Similar situation with me. I participated at Schutzenmeister events at one of the gun clubs I belonged to. They used ultra-modern poly stocked stabilized spotter scope set-ups. 30 rounds, 200 yards. I used a Loewe/1890 Commission 88 Mauser with Sellier/Beloit ammo. They shot 280-300. Shooting left handed over open original iron sights I shot 220-250. Raised a few eyebrows. Rifle is second from top in the collection pic. Finally got tired of dropping $5 each time. More fun to ring the iron plate.

Love it. You went out there naked, without all those S.R.D.s (skill replacement devices).
