I know I Know...dont sell if you can afford to keep it.

That being said, I'll never shoot either one.

I know they both have their pros and cons...mostly cons.

If you were to keep or sell...which would it be?

a Remington 742 in .308 or Browning BAR in .308? Why?

If I was pretty sure I was never going to shoot either of them they both would be dumped yesterday unless they're family heirlooms or something. Otherwise its just junk taking up space in your safe. Turn that trash into cash.
Same.
Both are over-hyped hunting rifles that are way too heavy for me to ever want to carry them around.

Upon landing in the Philippines, as a SSgt Gramps was supposed to carry a BAR. He pointed at the mountains where the Japs were holed up and said a M1 will do fine, thank you.

I agree with others- if neither the 742 nor BAR are family heirlooms and not being shot, sell both. Might want to sell them stat, before those who would be interested die off. Not kidding.

I’ve transitioned to this mindset as of late. Quality over quantity and if I haven’t shot it in over five years I’m starting to think about selling. Interests change so I may have some regrets so the process has been incredibly slow going. But the mental shift is starting and that’s my largest hurdle

I just sold my 742 I never shoot in 06. It was perfect, but I picked it up a Cabelas for a song and never hunted with it, old 50's gun. Hurt to get rid of it, but I doubled my money on it and realistically....it meant nothing to me.

Ill never sell my uncles near perfect Belgian Blonde wood BAR grade 2 if I can help it. But Im not gonna shoot it much either......but its going to my son.
Same with my M1 Garand.

I am going thru the same....getting rid of what I don't shoot that's not an heirloom and doesn't really serve a need. But there are also a good bit of heirlooms as my dad was an avid gun guy. Tough to know which to sell.....especially the ones you know you can't get anymore.

For the Northeast and Maine woods....you can pretty much carry a 7 or 10 inch 300 blackout AR pistol or a 30-30 lever in be totally good.
