Its rumored - I can't confirm - that the SS uniform was actually based on the MSP uniform, back in the day.

Just for those who think that we might be joking here, the SS actually used the MSP uniforms as an inspiration for their own. Some people claim it was the other direction, but history isn't on their side. The MSP uniform was originally designed in 1921 and has changed little since then.

Police uniforms from the early 20th centery were often very similar. The Sam Browne belt, the high boots, etc. Sure, we all know them from seeing a million WWII movies, but "that look" was quite widespread, and many LEO orgs simply haven't updated things so that they look much different now.
