Massachusetts Rifle Association - Woburn, MA

I disagree with you regarding JerryW's posts. At best they're benign and at worst he's straying into something a director should stay out of just on the general principles. But I don't blame him for getting involved and defending the club given Massman's history and his so far unfounded accusations of malfeasance on the part of the BoD.

Despite what you claim I still question your motivations given that you have not questioned Massman position on anything while at the same time you've questioned JerryW and myself. Say what you will but the truly impartial observer tends to question both sides.

Btw, I don't need to throw things at the wall to see if they'll stick. That's what Massman is attempting to do with his accusations about the board. Something I once again point out that you haven't questioned even once. That in itself will lead any reasonable person reading this thread to their own conclusion as to your objectivity.

I will assume that when you say question you mean challenge or disagree, seeing how I remember asking Massman at least one question.

In a completely non-bickering, information gathering kind of way... When did I "question" you?

As far as I can tell, I have merely thanked you for providing some information from the other side. It's JerryW's posts that I have a problem with for reasons already explained earlier in the thread.

You state that "Say what you will but the truly impartial observer tends to "question" both sides.". You missed the "Say what you will but the truly impartial observer tends to not "question" either side" part - I have not "questioned" either you nor Massman because I am merely trying to understand what is going on at my club, and information (biased or not) helps.

So seriously - what was the post where I "questioned" YOU?

Derek,

I'm sorry, as much as I'd like to respect your request the bickering ends when these people stop making ridiculous accusations and trying to undermine MRA's reputation on an open forum.

Except that you have yet to identify ONE accusation I made against you or identify ONE biased post I wrote, even after you opened your posting by attacking me directly for no clear reason.

I stand by my criticism of JerryW's posts in this thread, but that has nothing to do with my purported accusations against you or MRA (other than my valid criticism on the lack of transparency clear in JerryW's posts, which is unacceptable from any member of the BoD) - where are they?

Facts would help your case way more than your rant in post 1246, and yet you bring no facts to the whatsoever up when asked a simple question.

If you had the time to rant for a page, surely you had the time to provide some hard data to support your position...

If I sell you tiger repellent, and you go the entire year without any tigers in your yard, is that proof my tiger repellent worked?

Tiger, tiger, burning bright. In the forests of the night. Red John

Holy Crap, what a hullabaloo!
I've been a MRA member for years, thank God I only go late at night and skip the BOD meetings.
If I wanted to deal with shit like this I would've stayed married to my first wife.

I believe that this type of discussion does belong in this thread (after all, where else on NES should we talk about the MRA?), but I have stopped posting on the topic to comply with Derek's request.

We'll still get to the bottom of this - just not on NES.

Agreed and agreed!

When yesterday during the Pats game and had the Loeb to myself with a buddy. Trying to decide if I will continue my membership since I no-longer work nearby.

P.S. Well Derek, I tried (but, then again, you never had to threaten me with being barred for setting up a troll account).

Shotgun 5-Stand (sporting clays) is held every Sunday, as well. 10am to 12 noon on the shotgun ranges to the left of the club house. You can't miss it. Don't worry about the weather; there is a beautiful warming shed to keep everyone warm between rounds!

There are OFFICIAL copies available in the MRA office.

Do you have any reason to believe that a PDF would be doctored in any way?

How stupid do you think Massman is? Distributing a doctored version of the bylaws would discredit him and everything he's ever written.

Action Shooting UPDATE:

The notice sent out by the MRA to its membership via eblast about this Sunday's Action Shooting Match listed the event as taking place on the McLaughlin Range (outdoors, 50 yards). Due to the anticipated inclimate weather the match has been moved indoors to the Loeb Range. For those hardy souls that wish to partake of shooting on the McLaughlin Range, the weather should help you decide if you can.

ACTION SHOOTING MATCH

Description:
This Sunday, Dec. 15, 2013, the Loeb Range will be closed for normal use from 12:30 PM to 4:30 PM for an action shooting event.
Center fire rifles on bowling pin match

All members are welcome to participate or stop by and watch the event.

Duration: 240 minutes

Then Sean failed to get elected president and your other friend failed to get elected 2nd vp. Funny, that's the one that resigned saying they didn't have the time to serve on the board any more because of family obligations. I whole heartedly agree that family comes first, but I do find it odd that two months earlier they thought they had the time to take on more responsibility as 2nd vp than they already had as a regular director.

I have stayed well out of this conversation, and I have no idea who this is based on your online name, but obviously we know each other in person. In case you're unaware, this is Jen.

I have no idea why you are dragging me into this, and you better be advised that if you, or ANYONE at the MRA has issue with me, you can god damned well say it to my face. I did not EVER collude with Sean and Rich in any way, shape or form while running for 2nd VP.

If you ask John Myers he can attest to the fact that I had wanted a position on the Executive Committe for several years. I asked him how he felt as Secretary, and that I would be interested in assuming his position if he was finding it too much to do the kitchen and the FFL for the club. Ask John Chalmers whether or not I personally spoke with him regarding running against him LAST YEAR, and whether or not I redacted my paperwork in order to honor his request to serve out one more term.

And secondly, if you know anything about how KINDERGARTEN works, it starts in SEPTEMBER. Paperwork for the Executive Committee must be submitted be submitted at the JUNE BOD meeting in order to run. So how would I realize that the PTO and SEPAC meetings would run at the same time as as the BOD? So, who is this who is making remarks about me? Show yourself.

--edit--I want to be clear that Rich and Sean have absolutely nothing to do with my resignation, either, in case that was unclear in my comment above. The only people who knew my intent to resign were my husband, and Jeannie. And the only person whose input I took in the situation was my husband's. I have no issue with either Rich or Sean, but we certainly were not in cahoots by any stretch of the imagination.

--double edit--I was brought into the topic publicly, and defended myself publicly. I have also PM'd Dragon. All further conversation on this topic between s/he and I will be conducted privately so as not to drudge up any more public drama. As you were.

Hi Gregs,

Typically it takes a week or so, but with the weather and a few people being sick with the stomach flu it has taken a little longer. All checks that were at the club as of yesterday will be in the bank today.

Thanks for your patience.

was wondering what happened I dropped mines off last week thanks for update

I mailed mine back on the 5th, so it should have been received the following week. I'll be watching the checking account to ensure it gets cashed in the next few days. If not I'll cancel and reissue before the end of next week.

I was really interested in joining mass rifle but I just read a rule that rifles are limited to a capacity of 1 on the outdoor 100 yard range. Could I get some more information about this?

You can only have 1 round at a time on the Summa Range. That is, you can have an AR with a 100 round drum (pre-ban, of course), but you can put exactly 1 round in the magazine, load the magazine, strip the 1 round off the mag into the chamber with the bolt, fire, drop the mag and repeat.

The range is meant for accuracy and precision, primarily from bolt rifles, semis are allowed, but 1 round at a time.

If you want controlled rapid fire, the Loeb indoor range is the best option. If you want a higher shot rate for outdoor distance, use McLauglin.

Not sure if is a stupid question or has already been covered, but are the use of the shotgun fields only limited to the Wednesday and Sunday events? Or can a member bring their own gear on off days and use the fields? I know the rulebook states "No hand or foot thrower is allowed." for the shotgun fields. If off time usage is allowed, what throwers are members allowed to use? Thanks!

Off time usage is not allowed. Wed nights is trap and Sunday mornings is usually 5 stand.

That's what I thought, thanks for confirming. This is probably a question for another thread, but are there any places (clubs, state land, etc.) in eastern MA where you can bring your own thrower and shoot clays?
