Before kids I had a pair of New Zealand reds for a few years and we did five liters. The fertilization process is hilarious and amazingly effective; little guy was 5 for 5. First liter was a total loss, momma didn't know how to care for them. The next four were a success, lost one or two each time early on just a day or two after birth.
It was enjoyable, a lot more work than chickens but taught me the value of a pound of meat. I'll do it again once my kids are a touch older and can respect the process.
