I loved the SR9C and the SR40c but I have mostly 9's so I'd like to stay with them. I held it today and it fit good, even though I have big hands. Anyone else familiar with these guns? They seem real reliable and heavy. I want it for concealed carry and occasional target shooting.

While Im not a "ruger" guy ( I had an early SR9 that was the biggest POS ever! ) The SR9C is a long way off those early SR9's The trigger is one of the nicer you can get on a mASS gun and its an overall good value.

I've got a 9mm and am using it in Pistol classes for those that after shooting a .22 want to try something else. The women especially like the grip on it. And it has a pretty good trigger.

I shot a friend's SR9c and thought the grip was a little slick and hard to hold for a 9 mm. I like my Glock 26 much better. But, it went bang every time so if you like the grip then go for it.

As others have said, definitely pick it up. I got one a couple months ago and love it. Have about 400 rounds through it so far and it's eaten everything I've tried without a hiccup. Trigger is nice and it's a great size. My only complaint is the lame chamber flag that sticks up on a loaded chamber (Look at me I'm loaded!!), but that's more aesthetics than anything.

Aside from what Another_David said about the slick grip I agree that it's a great gun. Sweet trigger, utterly reliable (in my experience), and cheap to boot. I doubt you'll regret it.

Its a great everyday carry. Not the smallest or lightest gun, but.....I love mine. Over 1000 rounds through it. Had only one hiccup. Probably my fault. Definitely do it!

A little bicycle tubing will fix that slick grip. [wink]

Or you could pick up Hogue or Pachmayr grips, but they're a little more costly.

I prefer .40's. Anyone have any experince with the SR40c? ? Pros? Cons? I see some reviews online about this series having too many external safeties to "worry" about.

Buy one. I have shot about 2,000 rounds through mine, and the only couple issues I had was with WWB ammo. I have since stopped buying that junk, and gun runs awesome with any other brand. I love that gun.

Cracks me up people are still posting "BUY IT" when OP has said this:

Thanks everybody. I'm excited now! Can't wait to test it at the range. I will let you all know how it fires.

Making me believe it's already been done!

You prefer what now? I don't think you're supposed to say that on this board, lol.

From the looks of it, it looks identical to the SR9c, but with no real experience I can't comment on pros and cons. But if it's anything like the SR9c, as many others have said -- it's a solid pistol, nice trigger, accurate, and cheap... uh, affordable.

In terms of "safeties" -- there's the safety to the rear of the slide that's pretty small, and may be forgotten in a high-stress situation. You're play? Just leave it off safe.

There's a trigger safety.

There's a "Loaded Chamber" indicator that some people don't like.

I count 2 physical safeties and 1 visual safety. Is that too many? I guess that depends on you.

*Not sure if the SR40c has more than it's SR9c little brother for some reason, I'm basing all this on the SR9c.

3 months later and I still love my SR9c. I'm thinking of removing the mag disconnect safety. Especially because it's my carry gun. Have any of you removed this part?

I've removed it it's a piece of cake to do. Pm me if u need help but it's right on you tube. All you need is a small punch to get the backplate off
Fiddling with that is the hardest part. The disconnect is just a small part that falls free once you pull the striker out
