A good friend called me today and asked if I wanted to buy a rifle because he needed some cash. I decided to help him out and buy it. Its a Troy Industries pump action AR style rifle. It is very unique but I like it. It is chambered in .223.
Does anyone else here own one? What dp you think of it?

Don't own one. Don't really see the need for a pump action in 223. But from what I've read they are well-built and reliable. If you like it that's all the matters. Added bonus you were able to help a friend out.

I think part of the reason was to put an AR-ish platform into the hands of people who might have a hard time getting one legally otherwise. Are they good to go on an FID card, for example?

Forgot about to Fid card. Good point I was just thinking Healy bulshit.

Never even knew this existed... but now I want one. Unfortunately, not for $700-$900 though.

I gave him $700. They sell new for $900+ and it has very few rounds thru it. I only bought it because he needed the cash.
very few rounds Im sure, not much fun shooting a pump AR? You like you like its all that matters.

I personally wont pay more than half of value usually less for anything from friends who "need" money. As I want them to be able to buy it back at some point if they want. Plus 99% of the time its often items that are not wanted anyway.
Although im partial to the remington 7615p so I,might grab one if a friend offered it up.

oh and the Troy thing .....

Just curious how these work. If one were to told the trigger down, would cycling it (pumping it) fire it? Not that you'd get much accuracy out of that method. More of just a curiosity question. Also, do casings eject regularly or on the pump?

Neat. For a <$1000 AR in mass the choice is between a semi-auto fixed mag 10rd AR, or a pump that takes readily available preban 30s... well that's a tough call. Either doesn't seem a bad choice. Good on ya for helping your friend out.

My friends I just loan them the money.....
i give them money. i don't loan because that connotes i expect it to be paid back. repayment of money loaned to friends has been the killer of friendships for thousands of years...since money was invented. so, i have never loaned money to a friend but have given away tens of thousands over the years. i get it back, fine. i don't, thats good too. nothing is implied, no note signed.

Most people I know would prefer to sell or trade something then to get a hand out so nice deal all around. If you already have a few standard AR's this makes a nice "niche" addition.

That is exactly how this went down. He also has several other firearms so I didnt purchase his only tool. I would not have done that. I have enough firearms that this one was just added to the collection. You never know I may really like it after I shoot it.

They're a well built and "neat" rifle. They are actually a shit ton of fun when used in conjunction with a suppressor and subsonic .223 reloads. Yes subsonic .223 loads are a glorious thing.

Why the F would you buy a pump action AR? I understand that you want to help your friend but it looks like he sold you the runt of his collection.

Option 3 is - f*** mauron healey and build what you want, within the confines of actual law.

My friends I just give them the money....What are real friends for? But that's just me...Opinions may vary and as usual I don't really care about your opinion.
I agree if they need gas money or $10 for lunch. As long as it’s not frequent I don’t keep track. Once we start getting into the triple digits, I say “no, I don’t have it and if I did, I like you too much to lend you money.”
