Need advice on a rifle scope

Why get a low mag that always lives on high mag, when you could get a higher magnification scope that could be more useful?

This is what I mean ... if you have a 1-7x always on 7x, why not have a 3-18 always on 7x, which gives you the option of going up to 18x?

The higher mag scope might weight a bit more, but also has a larger lens and probably costs the same or is cheaper than the LPVO.
I should have stuffed a fixed 10x on it.
I have other scopes of vsrious MagX
From fixed 4X “22lr” scopes to a 8x32x56
Which basically lives on 24x due to the reticle . When Im using only the middle aiming dot I will turn MagX up
Example the center aiming dot
On 8x its .75 moa 24x .25 moa and 32x its .188 moa / 3/16 dot. Which can fit inside a 22 cal hole if you can hold it .

I will iften run the 8x32x56 on my 1942 513t
Just for fun and it is fun

Has the mil-dot reticle fallen out of favor? I haven't bought glass in a long time, but it used to be the standard for long range work. I standardized on it for all my glass so I have only one reticle to learn. Some of these new reticles are so busy they look like they have a table of contents and bibliography.

I gotta say, I really like the new Steiner H6Xi 2-12x42. They are being found for significantly below MSRP at the moment. I’d say it’s a good $1,200-$1,500 optic.

Very nice image and great eye box. The turrets seem good, but admittedly I need to play with them more.

The lume is pretty mid, but is more than enough for times when your reticle is against shadows or dusk/dawn.

I have the MOA version which has a BDC. I got it because the reticle is extremely usable at 2x and through the entire magnification range. It’s as easy or easier to use than the Athlon BTR Gen II 2-12.

The mil reticle has a much bigger fine tree that makes it more difficult to use at 2x. I really hope they make a second mil reticle that is similar to the MOA one, just with like 5 mil of stadia instead of the BDC.

There are still lots of reticles derived from it, usually with hash marks for stadia instead of dots, and varying levels of fidelity (0.5 or 0.2 mrad)

fixed 4X, 5X, 6X, 7X, 8X?

The less moving parts, the better.

Exactly. See above. I'm guessing they probably don't even have those fixed magnifications, other than 4X and 8X.

I'd say a fixed 5X with 30mm tube would be ideal.

I have scopes of all types. Most are specific use. Im not shooting at multiple distances at one time . IF I am im usually running with in PBR
