New XDm coming out

works as designed but you can't rack the slide without the safety being depressed
That's stupid. I wonder why the designed it that way?

Of course the 1911 has the "great" feature that you can't rack the slide with the thumb safety on.

A quick peek at the XDs, if only we could get it in MA (easily)

Loving My new XDM 5.25 competition

Just got out to shoot with my new 9mm 5.25" XDM. Love the fiber optic front sight. Ate ammo without a hitch (wish my M&P could do that), no jams, no issues. Very accurate, I love the little bit extra sight radius. Plus, in bi-tone is sexy as hell. My new favorite. I hope they come out with 10 round mags so you guys / gals in MA could enjoy it.

What does the XDM 5 and a quarter go for up north? I am just curious.

Gunbroker average is like $680-720, so figure most shops in NH are going to be selling them mid to high 700's. (this is usually pretty reliable). I would bet that with the exception of Riley's and MFL a 5.25 is probably going to be a "special order" type of deal.

Wow, wouldn't have thought they would be that high. I do like the XD line, maybe I will pick one up when I shed my chains, hopefully they come down in price a little.

The 5.25 is quickly gaining popularity - I was the first one at my local USPSA matches to have one - yesterday in my squad alone there were three. Between it and my Apex'ed M&P9 Pro, it's a wash.

The XD 10 round mags fit the XDm series in .45

Those mags are backwards compatible. For whatever reason the 9 & 40 are not, only the .45

For anyone wanting to know.

This is not entirely correct. The XDm 9mm has no 10 round magazines for it and takes different magazines than the XD. Now, the XDm in .45acp does take the same magazines at the XD in .45acp and there are 10 round magazines that exist for the XD, therefor you can put them in the XDm and be in the clear. I have not looked into the .40 myself because I do not shoot that caliber so I cannot speak to if you can get 10 round magazines for it.

So in short, there are no non-large capacity magazines that with int he XDm 9mm, but there are non-large capacity magazines that work in the XDm .45acp, and I have no idea about the XDm .40.

Nope, I looked and can not fin 10 rounders for my XDM40

Not really, since they added capacity...
Exactly what if I wanted to carry two 19 round XDm magazines as back up for my standard XD service model. I can stick a glock 17 magazine in a glock 19 hell it will even fit in the subcompact model. The guns are not that far apart in design but in reality they made them so far apart in functional design they really should even fall under the same name.

It'd be the same as if you wanted to carry backup SD9/40 mags for your M&P.

I just ordered one today (bi-tone, 9mm 5.25) and it comes with one custom made 10 rounder. Can't wait to shoot it!

Exactly what I picked up (except of course, w/o the special mag). I'm very pleased. I'll be putting another 100 rounds through it tonight.
I'd be curious if you had to adjust the rear sights. I found that it was shooting low with a 'ledge' sight picture. Of course, with the fully adjustable rear sight it was 5 seconds to adjust, but the instructions say its sighted at the factory.

It should be in tomorrow, so I will update when I get to the range. Hickok45 on youtube has a couple videos with the 5.25 XDms and it seems like he had to mess with the sites on all of them as they were shooting low out of the box also.

I carry the XDm .40 with a 4.5" Barrel and had a similar problem, which seemed to sort itself out with a change of ammo and break in.

Ok, I just got back from the range. I had a box of 50 mix and match rounds that I used and they all hit a little high. I guess springfield must just leave the sights all the way up when they assemble them or something. A couple turns of the screw and I was good.
