I think most agree that THIS (the direction of the country) will not end well. The question is the nature and timing of the "tipping point". Short of "an act of god", I don't see the ball being advanced for decades as the "voting base" is too small with too many factions of disenfranchisement, too comfortable, and too self-absorbed.

Step back just a second and take another look. If true, what happened to get 150 armed men to defy TPTB? With all NES's chest thumping and online posturing about how we won't stand for the latest government incursions into our quality of life, could you foresee anything akin to this in, say, Boston?

Could be a case like Reid and the Bundy's where there's some big money is there to be made .

No one was coming to help the folks at Waco.
They go in and wipe out these guys, getting out of that area intact may be a problem.
Staying in that area afterward would certainly be an issue.

I'm willing to bet the house that many of these guys in Oregon are veterans and know how to cause severe damage to an enemy. I'm not sure they'll burn quietly like the cultists in WACO did if the Feds attack them. These guys will definitely put some hurt out there and the wussies at the ATF and or the BLM won't know what hit them. Anything less than military heavy weaponry (if the Feds use that, it's Civil War 2.0 folks) won't get these guys out IMHO

Someone should whisper to him: move to Massachusetts, wait a year or so, run initially for school committee (even if he has no kids) and with a (D) beside his name he's a shoe-in, despite "a little bit of ugliness" that he experienced at the hands of "cruel" or "hate mongering" citizens back in his home state. That stuff plays well with the Massachusetts Libs. He'll get mountains of "understanding" and "support" from his "neighbors in his new community" and will win handily. Then the following year city council, then State Rep, etc etc...Tell him to run on the mantra of "GUNS ARE BAD! GUNS ARE EVIL! and after he breezes to victory he'll end up as Chairman of the Joint Committee on Public Safety, and he will lead the vote for even more strict gun control than we currently have here in Stalingrad.
Even better, for him, if he puts an "X" in one of the non-caucasian boxes on his application forms, drivers license etc...
For example, "American Indian, .001%" would get him to the head of the class at our State House. He'll be Massachusetts State Senator Kitzhaber, then Lt. Governor under our eventual new Governor, John Dukakis (Mike's son).
The future will be BRIGHT from there! Rub elbows with President Lizzie Warren when she's back in town for a vacation down in Nantucket, run for Congress, and if he happens to still have his law degree from his online Alma Mater, Yale.com, Lizzie will appoint her "Indian Cousin" to the Supreme Court (where they FINALLY are looking at "Second Amendment Repeal" among on their docket in 2024).

HOSSUSMC posted that the people doing this are all from out of state, and are doing this without the support of the local community, i guess the Oregon militia members werent even informed of this. You would think if people were going to do this, they would try and get the support of the local community to improve their position.

While the government possesses the weaponry (courtesy of the American taxpayer) to vaporize those folks in 5 minutes that's not going to happen. The government wiping out citizens who are standing opposed to government over reach is a very different story than the cultists that were BBQ'd in Waco. Back then most of America thought "Meh, they're nuts anyway". A government slaughter here will not play well at all with enough Americans that all hell could and probably will break loose around the nation, much like falling dominoes the anger WILL spread. The people on the ground - the ones going to jail over the burn - don't want this, they have decided they want to go the martyr route. The other folks - the ones who took over the building - have other ideas.
The ring leaders seem to be bring accused of being govt plants and provocateurs and have gotten some to come along. The people who have them pegged as govt-entities have many good points. Taking over a building instead of defending those wronged is a red flag.
We will have to see how this goes - and those of you who want something closer may get your wish before this is over. I would have taken a much more detailed interest in this had I been closer, much like those in Oregon take a slight interest in Mass Gun Laws.
