I have my tech license as well ,,, programming is not too hard ,, the cable makes it nice ,, but you will need the local repeaters you want in with the PL codes (ctcss) . Ham Radio Crash Course on YouTube has a great video on this. A note, the new Bowfangs DO NOT operate on FRS/GMRS freq, listen only now . I would like to go, but work way too much ,,, will stay tuned.
