I started a trade with someone on the Coltforum - two of my guns for one of his guns and $500 cash money. I got his check yesterday and the revolver today. A bit of an anomaly; a pre-WWII serial number on the frame, the backstrap is engraved U. S. Customs and a 4 digit number (1441) on the bottom of the grip - but the 2" Detective Special is a post-WWII barrel. It is probable that someone put the 2" barrel on the gun but there are some Postal Service hand guns that were converted to snub nose by the Post Office......
