So, has this gun in any of its 3 forms, shown up in any MA funstores yet?

The manufacturer. But the dealers still have some risk.

I think Acme Armament already indicated in another thread that it is ok to sell in MA. I tried looking for it, but my search fu stinks. I believe that we're only waiting for the supply to hit MA.

There are a ton on Gunbroker/Gunsamerica last time I checked...they cost mid to high 500's. Buy one. Transfer it in. What's the big deal.

That just means that Remington sent a letter to the AG saying "we think the R1 is in accordance with your regulations" and the AG didn't respond. Other manufacturers have been down that road before.

In this case, I think there is little likelihood that the AG will balk, since the R1 is so similar to the S&W and Sig 1911s being sold.

Well, if I knew with certainty that I wanted one, that would be an excellent option. However, I won't know until I see one in person.

When I asked Four Seasons a couple of weeks ago, Carl said that he has 50 on order from Remington.
I guess that it is in Remington's hands now.
I have a 1911R1 on my short list.[smile]

What are the upsides/downsides compared to a Springfield Armory model that costs similar?

No new Springfield Armory handguns can be sold by any MA dealer. I don't know where you're located, but for those of in in MA, that matters.

I have a had a few R1's in the shop, not bad for the price. A lot better than the Armscor guns. I expect a few soon as base guns for some mods.

No, it doesn't matter. You're making rampant assumptions about the poster.... why does everyone bring up MA compliance BS at the drop of a hat around here?

Even if he does live in MA, maybe he is moving out. Maybe he has a friend that wants to sell him an SA. Maybe he is using a legal wallhack (which we won't discuss here) to get what he wants.

I don't get this attitude of "You shouldn't care about what the difference is because you can't buy it here anyways" I think that mindset is somewhat obnoxious. Living in MA is bad enough, we don't need to be constantly reminded of it every 10 seconds. [laugh]

Hell, maybe the guy who posted that question is just curious, and seeks answers for purely academic reasons. Maybe he is helping his friend who lives in (insert free state here) research a handgun.

Re-read what I wrote. I made no assumptions. Also, all I said was that it matters to those who live in MA, not all the other stuff you wrote. [slap] [laugh]

Well, that's another assumption all by itself. Some of us who live here don't really care about handgun compliance when making purchasing decisions. I'd rather look for a decent used SA for 6 months for a reasonable price than kowtow to the AG's bulls**t, if I really wanted an SA 1911. (It probably wouldn't take me that long, but 6 months was for dramatic effect. ) I'm not knocking the R1 here at all, but it being compliant is not a "selling point" to me. It has nothing to do with the question/discussion of whether or not it is a decent handgun.
