Remington 1911?

They look like decent guns, but that gap between the top of the trigger and the frame on the enhanced is fugly... I think it bothers me because I have a 1911 with a trigger like that, where there's a big damned gap between the trigger and the frame on top, and the trigger itself kinda moves around. Not exactly precision fitting, but maybe that's just part of the price point.

Yea, that gap really is hideous.

No new Springfield Armory handguns can be sold by any MA dealer. I don't know where you're located, but for those of in in MA, that matters.

First, I'm in Connecticut, and I've just changed my profile to show it.

Second, I'm not actually likely to buy a 1911, but I went through a mental "what if" about which model would appeal to me most if I did, and I decided that I would prefer one with a more-or-less military parkerized finish. The R1 and the SA GI models looked pretty cool. End of daydream.

Third, what's with SA vs MA? Do they refuse to get their guns approved?

Ah, CT.

Yeah, SA is just another mfr who hasn't bothered to get certified for MA sales.

I think it's on par with an SA mil spec but with blue instead of Parkerized. The barrel appears to be one piece instead of two like the SA.

I have only one experience with a two-piece SA barrel, and it provided very unsatisfactory accuracy. I don't know if my experience was unusual or typical for an SA two-piece barrel.

I'd love to see these for sale in Mass! Of course that would mean I'd have to come up with some money.... :(

There was another thread about them in a different section, which was locked. They are for sale in MA. I am already trying to get funding in place to get one, but I do hate the gap on the top of the trigger.

Trigger looks different in the picture. Still has a gap I think. There are different models available.

Four Seasons has them was in there today and handled one. $599 cash or $609 CC

i was reading on my phone, it didn't show up for some reason. now i realize how foolish i look.

I have noticed similar problems trying to read posts on my Droid. Not everything shows up so you don't get the whole message.

Consider it an equipment failure.

I was at Four Season on Friday morning and saw a guy trade in a PPK/S for a Remington pistol (new) that looked like the 1911R1 in the picture. I seem to remember it having wood grips.

It was a PPK; no(s) [wink]....btw,welcome to NES .

So for a $600 1911, how does she run?

I'll let you know after this weekend.
Basic USGI style made by Remington (not a Para relabeled), it has nice high three dot post sites.
The trigger seems real good, fit & finish is impressive for an under $600 1911.
I'm trying to get over a nasty cold & get to the range to give it a whirl, will report back.

Awaiting this report so I can go blow another $600

I'd be interested to know how the remington compares to the Auto Ordnance (post-Kahr acquisition) 1911 and the Rock Island Armory 1911.

+1

That Remington looks fantastic. I would be interested to know how it compares with the Para Ordnance... I was thinking of picking up the Para before I saw this post...

Skip the Para -- questionable quality control.

I had a Para carry model and I noticed two things...

1) The controls were not the same metal as the rest of the gun. There started to be some discoloration on the thumb safety, mag release, etc from probably sweat, while the true stainless parts of the gun were fine.

2) The slide stop lever appeared to be slightly digging into the cutout in the slide.

Sold it.
