Revolver unloading using "one sharp slap" massad technique. Yeah.....dont do that..

Watched a video about a FBI shootout where agents where killed while reloading because the kept shells in the pockets
So they changed the training to reload while watching the situation at hand
I think it was Paul Harral doing the recreation
Been practicing at the range, I Don't have a speed loader
Again. Not a lot of reason to carry a revolver these days

(And I did for a while so I’m not anti revolver)

That was the Newhall Incident. And the troopers didn’t actually pocket the brass. That was a false narrative that ended up influencing training for a long time.

If you are carrying a revolver and are not using speedloaders (or at the very least speedstrips), then I truly don’t understand you at all.

As for the whole “don’t look at the gun during reloading”, get a shot timer. Time yourself reloading while watching the gun and while you are not watching the gun. I predict that your reloads are glacially slow.

I strongly suggest that if you are going to carry a revolver that you start competing in IDPA with your revolver. You will learn a great deal about your shortcomings while under the stress of competition.

Have the speedstrips
But it seems like you still have to index the cylinder
Just upping the game
And thank You, Did not know they updated the info

I backup carry an S&W 442. No, I don’t use speed loaders or speed strips. 🤷🏻‍♂️

You should. Time your reloads with loose rounds. Then spend some time practicing with speedloaders. You will learn just how horrible it is to reload with loose rounds.

Of course if it is a backup gun, then it is less of an issue.

Speed strips suck only a bit less than pocket carry.

Speed loaders with a few extra rounds in your pocket to top off if there is a lull in the fight.

The first 10 should get the job done and if not there’s another 10 behind that. Then there’s the revolver. If that fails then I’m screwed cuz I don’t think pistol whipping someone with an air weight will do much good.

With speedstrips at least you don’t have to fish single rounds out of your pocket and turn them the right way around. I still think speedstrips suck horribly but they suck less than loose rounds.

Try reloading with a push to release speed loader like a Safarliand Comp II or Comp III. Really, you need to try this to understand what you are missing.

Or simply start carrying a small semi-auto instead ;)

That’s when the knife comes out!

I carried an air weight Ti

Might as well pistol whip them with a squirt gun.

A reminder that an open cylinder crane is a weak point on a revolver. Grasp or support the cylinder before giving the rod a whack. Haven't seen the Ayoob video so I don't know how he does it.

On the rare occasions when I carry a revolver, I don't bother even to carry a reload. If I wanted to be prepared for that scenario, I took the wrong gun. Anyway, here's Mas's video:

Still researching reloaders since not all work with the LCR
Wanted a pocket or bellyband gun
And don't like micros
Considering the climate of mass
Went with a 357

Thanks. I can see that he's giving the rod a whack without supporting the cylinder. While that might be OK for a work provided service weapon with armorer support and/or a supply of spare revolvers, it's a recipe for f-ing up your cylinder crane on a personal weapon.

On the rare occasions that I carry one of my K-frames, I carry two or three speedloaders (I prefer Jetloaders) in speedloaders holders on my belt.

Were you shooting 44 Specials in it first?
No.

240 grain cast swc over 9 grains titegroup. I know tg is a fast powder but I worked it up from 6 grains checking for pressure signs. Lyman states max is 10. Been using that load for quite awhile and never had extraction issues. The gun was a bit dirty though......had shot 2 pin shoots with it before last night.

It may just need a cleaning.

Never again. Fed bois learned to always be more armed than your enemy, I mean, target. Fed bois today love to play Delta Force.

Y'all got two ankles. Two 442s faster than a speedloader. Of course that's after exhausting your primary 300AAC 'pistol', extra mags, and HK pistol with its extra mags in a fight.

Maybe, or maybe we suck trying to shoot them? I know I suck with snubbies. That said, the LCR 357 is IMHO the best pocket revolver for self defense- if you load it with +P 38's. [laugh]
You really don’t get much extra ballistics out of .357 in such short barrels. And in exchange you get a lot more muzzle blast, flash, and recoil. And just to add insult in injury, the lightweight J-frame 357s made out of unobtanium cost a lot more than .38 Spcl 642. So you can spend $1,100 on a 340 pd in .357 or $540 for a 642. 🤷‍♂️

Snubbies are really hard to shoot accurately, so you really need to practice a lot with them. But the lightweight ones hurt to shoot, making it less likely we will shoot them a lot.

The LCR has a comfortable shock absorbing grip and the polymer fire control housing helps to absorb recoil as well. The 357 version has a little more heft as well. They are not at all bad to shoot. That said, I still prefer a heavier snub nose. That way after I empty the cylinder and miss every shot, I can throw it at the bad guy and do a little damage.
