Ruger RXM - Ruger/Magpul style fake Glock

Not a game changer, but according to one channel it has a better trigger than a Glock, uses Glock mags, has real, steel sights (unlike the plastic crap on Glocks) and all for $100 less than a Glock 19. Seems like a decent option. I'm not going to run out and sell my 19, but I think there is a market.

That's really not saying much, or setting the bar all that high. [rofl2]

IF I see one in store, I MIGHT check it out. I think a lot of people are going to wait to see what comes out to support the modular control thingie before jumping onto it.

I like:
Glock variants.
Magpul products.
(Some) Ruger products.
Guns that are optics ready.
Guns that give you optic choices.
Being able to customize as I see fit.
Not having to have a holster made.
Using my already owned pre-bans.

I'm eager to see:
If this trigger chassis proves to be meaningfully reliable.
If Ruger plays this well and offers numerous slides, barrels, comps, triggers etc.
If Magpul doesn't drag their feet with offering numerous grip styles.

I know many will thumb their nose at it because of the ruger name but I really like the idea of this pistol. I agree with m1911 - I ain't selling my glocks or my shadow systems or my glock variants for it but if it's reliable........WOULD (buy one).

Given that modularity is the selling point here, I think I would rather see slides cut as deep as possible for specific foot prints. If they release a slide with a deep milling for an ACRO, I'd consider buying one of these.
Not going to happen. The ACRO has tiny market share. RMR? Sure, that's possible. But ACRO? No way.

Despite owning some, I'm not impressed with Ruger. There's always something that bothers me or needs to be fixed.
They make great revolvers and .22LR rifles and pistols. Their PCC and 1911 seem pretty good. However their other centerfire pistols have always left a lot to be desired. I had an American compact... had. I've shot an SR9 and a few LCPs - hard pass on all.

What I'm really hoping for is that Magpul/Ruger builds a B&T TP9 type gun that isn't gay like the TP9, that uses this drop in FCI. Glock mags, a trigger that doesn't suck, and a 1/2x28 threaded barrel. I would be first in line for a package like that.

Ruger is getting kinda close with the LC carbine, hopefully Magpul can Chad them up a little.

Got to agree. My MkIV is awesome, and my PCC is built like a tank. But the couple of centerfire pistols I've had over the years have been mid.

Milled for several different footprints.
Not a game changer for me.....but its better than just having one Holosun you can drop on it without a plate.

I do see they came out with the grey first.....and will sell the pistol in that, but black grip already available at Magpul for 39.00 dollars. Somewhat douchy, why not just sell the black frame first and colors later.

I have the PC9 which is an awesome little gun, and have/had a few American Rifles For shit money their barrels have all been MOA.

The 6.5 with the Magpul stock and FFP scope shoots cloverleafs with almost any box of ammo or reloads I throw at it. Can't complain.
Im considering another 6.5 in the new gen for a hunting rifle.

I have two of the 1911's and they're a solid, good value, the P85/89 guns seem to get snatched up quickly when they come up but every other center/semi design kinda sucked.

"market differentiation"

Ruger sells many of their guns in colors. They're trying to look different than the other Gen 3 clones. That it's grey makes it visibly different from the beginning, and $400 means a black grip frame could still be in the budget.

Kind of swiss-cheesey, but it's about time somebody did that, instead of having their own footprint that demands plates.

At $400 MSRP, it could be a good starter pistol. I would try one.

[Edit - street price, not MSRP]

Wait until they under-sling an 870 on the accessory rail.

And make it fold up.

It is interesting as it has about 48 "extras" that are included in the price. But clearly it has a completely different fire control system that may or may not be enjoyable or effective. We shall see. I'm intrigued, though.

I'm sure it'll end up being mASS compliant but Glocks are still persona non grata. LOL

He likes big GLOCKS and he cannot lie
You other shooters can't deny
When he walks in with itty-bitty scope and a hi cap mag
Ya get SPRUNG! From the trigger. That fell out on your finger. . . .

OK, I'm done.

Ruger isn’t the first to do this. The downside, of course, is that red dots with shorter overall lengths won’t be supported by the back of the slide cut. So you’d better use loctite and hope the screws don’t break from the shear force.

Isn't that what the pins are for?

MSRP is $499...

It will be interesting to see what other guntubers have to say about it. As well as what the long term support from both Ruger and Magpul looks like. Wait for Honest Outlaw to do at least a 1k round review (if not 2k, or more) before giving any serious thought.

Are upgraded/better triggers even possible with guns that have the drop in serialized group? Seems like every maker is calling the same thing something different. Would be kind of nice if there was a STANDARD name for that crap.
