Ruger RXM - Ruger/Magpul style fake Glock

IDK what the cost is for the uppers and frames, but with Glock the aftermarket uppers are always a few hundred bucks. That may as well be a second handgun and two is one, one is none.
$40.

So, 1 FCU and you can have a 19 and a 26 sized pistol grip for less then the cost of 1 Glock branded G19. I swap out my 19 for a 26 in the summer, this would be perfect. 1 red dot, 1 top end, 2 pistol configurations.

Under what circumstances are you seeing yourself needing to switch from the 19 to the 26 frame? Seasonal change? When it gets warm enough and you wear lighter clothes?

This is why the FCU thing doesn't appeal to me. When it gets hot outside, I just switch to a .380 or a snub .32 revolver.

Is the FCU really that big of a feature? I know Sig's 320 has it and the Army got a hard on for the idea, but I get the sense that if the ability to swap frames was such a hot thing everyone would be buying the 320, but it doesn't seem that popular.

Great in theory, not so great in practice.

Most of us aren't necessarily lazy, but we've got a stack of normal-important stuff. So changing out a grip frame is NOT on our list.

Change a mag - 3 seconds. Change a slide - 8 seconds. Change a grip frame???? Maybe 2 min. But it's not somthing you do 50 times a year so a lot of people don't rush to do so. They gotta think about it. That "normal important stuff" stacks up and you DON'T change the grip module.

I was surprised at the low cost of the grip modules for the Sigs. Usually somehow those things cost big. I guess not here. So it's interesting. But I stand behind folks that will consider it and then never use a different module.

I recall 20 years ago when the big selling point of an AR was the interchangable uppers. Most guys just buy anotehr lower. LOL. Heck, the HK SL8's I think a selling point (by HK) was you could change barrels/uppers/whatever easily. I've NEVER seen anything except the typical 16" barrel. (I think it was the SL8. It was 25 years ago and they were stupid-pricey vs. an AR.)

As far as a G19 to G26 - Figure $70 for a gripframe and another $200-250 or so for barrel/slide. $320. Get a second pistol at that point. ;)

Those complaining about ~$60+ magazines haven't looked at those for the 2011 (or double stack 1911) market. The ones I hear about most seem to be made by MBX. Over $100 for the magazine. 😲 Even magazines from Atlas start at $70 ($105 for restricted to 10 rounders for the oppressed).

Funny how the magazines for my Para P14 are a LOT cheaper ($26 from Brownells [rofl2]). Not that I need any more, currently.

A big benefit for the grip frames is for folks who want to dip a toe in the industry, another is for folks who like "tinkering" (i.e., playing dressup) with their pistols. Metal guns had replaceable grip panels, but this just doesn't make sense on polymer frames.

Now, someone who's not ready to get an FFL and design firearms, can make up custom grip frames for the e.g., P320. First, FDM them at home, then pay for MJF from a prototype house as a bridge; if successful, invest in a mold. Meanwhile, Magpul, Wilson, etc., can all crank out designs quickly, increasing your "ecosystem" with almost no cost to the original company.

Now, shooters don't have to pay for irreversible, ugly stipple jobs, they can just buy a couple replaceable grip frames and try them out. If one of them doesn't work for you, you can resell it and recoup part of your investment.

I only carry 9mm glocks. So yeah, in the summer time when wearing shorts and a tee shirt, I go down to carrying a G26 in a Raven Concealment clip holster for the shorter grip.

If all these companies like PSA, Ruger, and Turkshits are making Glock clones since the Gen 3 patents recently expired, doesn't that mean Glock reached its Perfection way back during their Gen 3? So how do you improve upon perfection then with Gen 4 and Gen 5? What will they think of next in the Gen 6?

Its probably a lot like what happens when you run through the snow bunnies in your new hood. White homeboys gotta do something new.

I don't see any reason to carry anything other than full size IWB. I did so in summer in MA and I do so in the summer in FL. Its heavier in FL, cause it has 7 extra rounds in the mag.

I only retain my Mossberg M2C because its way thinner than a G19 and carries 16+1 rounds. But I don't use it much and it just sits in the truck as I grab the G47 most times. The only reason I don't sell it is it cost 280 dollars new with night sites......so why bother. Im just keeping it and maybe i'll give it to my son or something.

Ruger s*cks.

They turned into p*ssies around 20 or so years ago.

I refuse to buy any of their semi auto pistols except for a .22.
I've had mixed results with Ruger. I can't remember what I using probably around 20yrs ago and it started off real well but it took a dump just after 1k rounds. The 10/22 I have has always worked well among a few others from them. Like I said if I run across one and I have the money I may give it shot.(pun intended). If it sh*ts itself well then par for the course.

Was watching some rando on YT last night post his 100shot review of the gun. It would NOT chamber easily on a stock Glock mag. Something about either the slide-stop or the slide-stop spring. PMags worked fine. 4 different Glock mags - not one of them would release without some sort of shaking while pulling the slide back.

My actual beef with Sig is that they ground up designed a new plastic pistol (320), and still capped the flush mags at 17 rounds. Wtf is Springfield the only mfgr that has moved past that?

Then they started shooting their owner's in the dick. That ain't cool either.
*confused canik and cz noises*

I like it in the instance i can customize my frame...like i can get an icarus 365 macro grip or a wilson grip and slap it on.

Using it in the idea that I'm gonna change fcus from a 365 during summer to a macro during winter

Thats dumb I'm not gonna do that

I carried a 17 for years for this reason...like eh idgaf it carries pretty well

I like my macro tho easily my favorite carry gun

I wish magpul would get back into rifles.
I think If the RXM has some decent sales over the next months / year or so, we will start to see some carbine chassis for the RXM FCI

Ruger will probably start selling the FCI on its own. Then you can get a grip from Magpul for $40 (they will probably offer in more colors later) and any gen3 slide, and its a different way to build Glock Legos

It seems like every model Ruger offers quickly makes the MA Roster, when the RXM does, I will definitely buy one.

Thats what I'm waiting for. I honestly think I will probably end up with an RXM next year some time.

Heads up anyone wanting one, it's tree-fidy plus transfer. MA folks should be able to get this soon - doesn't Maura hate Glocks but love Rugers?

It's not just Muuuaaarrahhhhhhh. It goes back to Very Harsh Burgers, I believe. We're talking. . . . .20+ years of AG-Glock hatred. Maura was at Smith in Scissoring class when this all started.

Lucas from TRex did a video on this. Gen 3 glock slide fits right on, and glock mags work in his video. Didn't watch the full thing - but it seemed to work 100%

They won't be able to get the 15 Rd model in that shithole. But they do make a 10rd SKU and it might make the list.

They are down to 350.....which for a being having night sites, taking glock mags, and being red dot cut out is not bad. Their turkish counterparts are around 200-250 but don't have night sites. I predict some sales my dump them down to 300 if there are lower than average sales, because it seems like there are a ton of these things around.

Still will wait for the longer/slide barrel version in full size, but I will buy one eventually.
