Ruger RXM - Ruger/Magpul style fake Glock

As a Ruger fan, they're really leaving me cold lately. This is no exception.

I think the last gun they made that I liked is the LC9s, especially once I tore out the magazine safety. I guess I'm not such a fan as I thought; I like their single actions, older bolt actions, 10/22 and the Six series of DA revolvers. Shit, when did I get old?

MSRP is $499...
Thanks, looks like I remembered wrong. That leaves it on par with the G19. Less interesting.

Are upgraded/better triggers even possible with guns that have the drop in serialized group? Seems like every maker is calling the same thing something different. Would be kind of nice if there was a STANDARD name for that crap.
I'm 99% sure there are triggers for the 320 and 365, I'd be surprised if this won't have them... assuming it's not compatible with Glock replacements.

FCU/FCI... feels like distinction without difference.

It will be interesting to see what other guntubers have to say about it. As well as what the long term support from both Ruger and Magpul looks like. Wait for Honest Outlaw to do at least a 1k round review (if not 2k, or more) before giving any serious thought.

They are selling for $399-419 pretty much everywhere (sportsmans, psa etc).

This would be perfect for me as the only Glock I own is a Keltec Foldy-Boy. Got over a dozen or so Glock-9 mags laying around. Was going to buy one of those ridiculous looking PSA Daggers but this looks much better made and designed at least from a grip standpoint.

Not a game changer for me.....but its better than just having one Holosun you can drop on it without a plate.

I do see they came out with the grey first.....and will sell the pistol in that, but black grip already available at Magpul for 39.00 dollars. Somewhat douchy, why not just sell the black frame first and colors later.
I saw an FFL's video on youtube that shows there are OD green and FDE grips floating around. I wonder if it's because nobody buys gray magpul stuff. ;)

Isee your point. One could always do the layout with everything biased backwards...
The force goes both ways, so the best is a tight fit front and back. But that would require a slide cut custom to each optic, or a plate for each optic, and plates have their own drawbacks. TANSTAAFL.

Shadow Systems’ cut allows for multi-footprint direct mounting and uses a spacer in front of the optic to fill any gap. Very clean, tight fit. Their hardware doesn’t require use of pins either.

"market differentiation"

Ruger sells many of their guns in colors. They're trying to look different than the other Gen 3 clones. That it's grey makes it visibly different from the beginning, and $400 means a black grip frame could still be in the budget.
Umm...they want to push the grey ones out to the "gotta have it" crowd...who will then buy black frames for their grey frames they really didn't want....

I'm waiting for black. And full size.

The normal daggers...the ones without windows on windows are pretty solid

Is the FCU really that big of a feature? I know Sig's 320 has it and the Army got a hard on for the idea, but I get the sense that if the ability to swap frames was such a hot thing everyone would be buying the 320, but it doesn't seem that popular.

Well the 320's ND if sneeze next to them, so...

I don’t care that they take different mags. What I care about is how much SIG charges for them. $60 for a mag? Um, no.
My actual beef with Sig is that they ground up designed a new plastic pistol (320), and still capped the flush mags at 17 rounds. Wtf is Springfield the only mfgr that has moved past that?

Then they started shooting their owner's in the dick. That ain't cool either.

Design issues and quality aside, I'm not sure what the advantage is to having a an FCU you can change out everything with. IDK what the cost is for the uppers and frames, but with Glock the aftermarket uppers are always a few hundred bucks. That may as well be a second handgun and two is one, one is none.

Apart from the 5.7 pistols and their 20 rd mags, the market doesn't seem to be asking for it. Even with the 5.7 pistols that came out the past few years, I think whatever initial surge in sales happened was more due to the caliber and its low recoil, soft armor defeating abilities, not so much mag capacity.

The only real super high capacity pistol I've seen take the market by storm is Kel Tec's .22 Mag and ammo being cheap and common probably had a lot to do with it.

True, but Glock has been so popular for decades that people probably do have boxes full of old mags they kept even if they sold their Glock 20 years ago. Also, the Polymer80 kits drove a lot more people into the Glock mag, so it makes sense for Ruger/Magpul to go with that.

And yes, $60 a mag is BS.

Personally, as long as I like the gun, I don't care about which mags it uses, but if the mags do cost big bucks, I'm going to be very hesitant to buy the gun unless there is nothing else out there like it. The 320 being able to swap the FCU isn't exciting or useful enough for me to bother spending the money on.

This as well.. I have no idea what sig mags cost.....ouch....never bought a sig.

I can buy 10 Magpul GL mags for like 80 dollars for a pack on special, and they run great.

WTF. Glock stock mags.....like 20 bucks on sale, sometimes less.

Personally, I think magazines are the dumbest part of Glocks. By making them polymer (and then with a metal lining), the Glock mags have very thick walls in comparison to a steel magazine. This extra wall thickness increases the grip circumference of the gun, which is one of the big weaknesses of Glocks. If Glock had simply used a conventional steel walled magazine, the grip circumference could have been smaller and the guns would fit more hands.

So I don’t have a problem buying new magazines, even though I’ve got a ton of Glock mags. I do have a problem paying $60 per magazine.
