Anyone been out hunting this week or the tail end of bow season in Southern MA?

I was wondering the situation on the rut. Is it ending, prime time, over, etc.?

I was out bowhunting (i.e. scouting for shotgun) last Saturday and did see a few fresh scrapes. Leaves were falling so these were touched within a day. This indicates the rut is active, correct?

This will help me decide on scents and whether or not I make any noise (grunt, bleat, rattle) tomorrow.

But, in most public land all hell broke loose for the deer on Monday morning so everything is a crap shoot unless you hunt an area where noone else is.

MA Rut

Rut is definitely going on here in on the MA Northshore. I also hunt public land and there was hardly anyone out Monday (rain), and yet even fewer rest of week. Not good...

Rut is in

I can't tell you from being in the woods, but from the bucks that I have been butchering I can tell you these guys have been chasing does for over a week. They big ones have well polished antlers and are completly void of any fat reserves. Some have even started to lose muscel mass because of the annual chase.
