Yet another question of which one? I have been looking to get a bolt gun and start shooting longer distance (over 300 yards). I think I have narrowed the search to 2 rifles in .308 cal. though I am sure someone will throw a wrench in that and confuse me all over again
. Well I am looking at either a Savage model 10PC of a Remington LTR. Before anyone starts about the barrel length due to the lack of long distance ranges I can never see myself needing anything longer than 20 inch. That length is perfectly capable at shooting out to the 600 yards I never see myself going over.
The 2 rifles are very similar in many areas. Both have 20 inch heavy barrels. The Savage is half a pound lighter than the Remington. I really like that the savage has a detachable magazine and that it comes with a "tactical" style bolt handle. Both stocks are very similar Savage advertises "accu-stock" which I do like a little more than the Remingtons which seams a little slippery but is bedded. The Savage also has the adjustable accu-trigger. I know all of the things one may have and the other may not can be added of changed I am just talking out of the box. Both prices are also reasonably close. The only thing really different is the barrel twists Savage has a 1:10 and Remington 1:12
In the beginning I was just going to get the 700 but took a look at the Savage and was liking what I saw. I know you cant go wrong with the 700 and I have one in .30.06 for a hunting rifle but figured I would ask peoples thoughts.
