I just picked up a Savage Axis in 308 and was thinking about having the barrel cut and threaded to add a break. Has anyone had this done? is it worth it? Any feed back would be awesome. Thanks.

Cheaper/cleaner option is probably to sell your Axis and buy a Ruger American Predator in .308. Threaded barrel from the factory. They're about 400 bucks.

Thanks guys, that was an option to sell the savage. I bought the gun on an urge, couldn't beat the price.

I didn't see the "man up and shoot the damn gun!" option in your post... [devil]

I picked up a cheap Savage model 11 in .223 a while back and its a sweet shooter for the price!

Haha, thanks Heath. I love the savage was just thinking about adding a break. Maybe cut it down to 20 inches. Hope all is well brother

I went with the Classic in nutmeg laminate. It looks pretty good. It added a good deal weight to the rifle which noticeably reduced recoil. It provides for a better cheek weld than the stock polymer stock although the comb could be higher still. I get good groups- routinely sub 1 inch at 100 yards. Out of a cold barrel three touching is not unusual.
