Anybody have any comments (good or bad) about Savage rifles. Thinking of a 30-06.

Thanks in advance.

Bob

I've got a 110... nice things, love the trigger. Gives everyone a scare the first time they shoot it because it is a LIGHT trigger.

I regret having to sell my Savage 112 in 22-250. factory ammo and stock trigger (only had the company lighten it) and it was shooting quarter sized groups @ 100yds.

A lot of times in enthusiast hobbies you will pay more just for the name (Remington/Winchester).

Savage MKII-G in .22LR. I love it.

I have a Savage .22 plinker that is flawless. Gun Test Magazine just rated their 30-06 best bang for the buck over all its competitors..Unfortunately I dont have the whole article as it was recycled by the little lady over the weekend..Sorry

I own 2 Savage rifles.

One is a model 10FLP in 223 with the Accutrigger. The other rifle is a Model 11 (I think) in .260 REM with no Accutrigger. Both are good rifles and very accurate. As stated in previous posts the Accutrigger is outstanding. Savage rifles aren't the prettiest but they are reliable and accurate.

My Savage Scout Rifle

I have a model 10 FMCL (left handed scout package) in .308

It is a great shooter when I do my part.

Like others have mentioned, the customer service is excellent. So is the custom shop.

About a year ago I picked up a Savage Model 11 in .308. It is basically the same rifle, but with the Accu-Trigger and an internal magazine.

The only other bolt guns I have to compare them to is my Rem. 700 and Win. 70. I prefer the Savages.

Lifting the bolt handle is easier and the overall operation of the bolt is smoother.

I love shooting my Savages - accurate, affordable, nice trigger, easy to work on and available in left hand. I have a 12 in 223, a 10FLP in 308, and I'm working on a 110 in 280 Ackley.

The only negative I can say about them is that they are not usually pretty rifles. Not that I care. They shoot, and that's all I'm looking for.

I think most have covered it by now, But I'll add my 2 cents. I own two savages, and I love them both. They're some of the most accurate, and best priced rifles out there.

They have great customer service.

They sure do. I just got a used Model 10FP in 223. Unfortunately it was missing the tool needed to adjust the Accu-Trigger. I called customer service and they send me the tool for free and waived the 10 dollar minimum for parts. Nice.

I also have the Savage 30-06. I love it. The Accu trigger is the best thing IMO. I loved it so much I also purchased a Savage .22 LR. The .22 is way cheeper to shoot....

I was wondering the same thing. I have a Savage 110; it was made in the early 80's (but looks brand new).

Thanks Scrivener.....Timney has one for the 110, but they state it will fit all bolt action rifles after 1977 but before the accutrigger .....time to visit the Timney group buy. I'll check out Savage also

Its a no go on older Rifles

From their site FAQ

Q. Can I have the new AccuTrigger™ installed in my Savage rifle?

A. Older rifles cannot be retrofitted with the new AccuTrigger™ due to machining differences on the receiver.

If your pre-Accutrigger Scout has the 2 screw adjustable trigger, you could also replace it with the (slightly) earlier 3 screw trigger. Those can usually be adjusted to a pretty good pull, especially if you replace the factory spring with some .041 spring wire. Not Timney good, but not Timney priced either.

3 Screw 110 Trigger

2 Screw 110 Trigger

Factory instructions - 110 trigger

6yr old daughter has a Mk2 lefty youth model Savage with accutrigger and that damn trigger is better than any on my safe!! That will change soon though as I am getting a good trigger for my AR soon.

I have three. I don't care for the .22 with the synthetic stock, as not only does it feel cheaply made, the bold is very "sticky".

The other is a 9317, .17 HMR with the accutrigger, phenominal.

Lastly is a very old 110 .30-06 I got cheap, in good shape, shoots very well, but to this day despite trying everyones suggestions, smells like a cross between an ashtray, and my ex's ass crack after a workout.
