seriously considering trading my Glock 17 (2nd generation), need advice

Meaning that I can purchase it, but through a FTF sale, correct?

Yes, or if a dealer sold you one by accident, don't look a gift horse in the mouth. (I wouldn't count on that happening though).

FWIW even when I am traveling in free states at gun stores, the .45C doesn't seem to be that common, and I'm not sure why........

Well if Im luicky, maybe Ill score one at Holbrook next weekend!

I've seen people with baby hands comfortably shoot Glock 21's and I don't buy into the whole "this thing is too big for me to shoot" arguement. If your grip is good then you'll be fine.

If you're looking for something smaller for carry go with a Glock 19/23/32 depending on caliber. You might even get lucky and find someone to trade you one for your Glock 17. Also the 19/23 have plenty of pre-ban mags available and can use 17/22 mags if you want as well.

Also i'm 5' 8" and skinny as a twig and I have no problem concealing a Glock 17. Maybe a new holster is what you need :)
