Show me your Ruger 10/22

This is my 10/22 my gave me for my birthday. The only thing I dont like it the finish on the receiver. I have only put about 300 rounds thru it and right by the charge handle its already flaking off. I was thinking of sand blasting it and anodizing it black or can I blue aluminum?

If you're asking about Forester's stock, it's the laminate stock that comes with the 10/22T model.

10/22T's come with a fluted bull barrel, target trigger, wood laminate stock... and come in either blue or stainless.

Really nice little rifles. I love mine!

The Targets are nice shooters, I dropped a VQ hammer in too make a nice trigger even better, other than that its stock.
I took it out the other day,
bipod, 50yds with CCI Blazers. I just took a single pot shot at the flag I had stuck in the frame..didn't believe I hit it until I got out there [laugh]

I can't stand the paint they put on the newer Ruger 10/22 receivers - mine kept chipping off inside the action and making a real mess. I finally just stripped it off and buffed the receiver with 400/600/1000 grit and Mom's for the final buff. I like how it's come out.

Mostly Kidd Upgrades, Hogue stock...

Nice build. What did you use to strip the receiver?

thank you. I'm dreaming up a build and most likely will wind up buying a brand new 10/22 to do it with and first on the list is a receiver color change.

Did you do the inside of the receiver as well or just the outside?

I did both, about 30% of the inside paint had come off on it's own, from the bolt chipping it off. I didn't bother polishing on the inside, but stripping the paint off does seem to make the action run smoother.

That is great to hear. I don't plan to strip the receiver but I have been tossing around the idea of removing what is left of the inside paint, since(I believe) it makes the action feel "gritty".
I have 10/22Magnum bolt handles coming, I'll have the actions apart.....seems like a good time to strip away [grin]

Tell me about that ruger with the wood stock. What kind of shroud and sights are those?

I have had that hand guard on the rifle for about fifteen years. I do not remember where it came from but I found one here. There are a lot of them out there. Just Google - 10/22 ventilated hand guard and find the style that you like.

The rear sight is from Williams via Midway. The rear sight screws into the holes for the rear scope mount. I like this because it increases the sight radius and therefore the inherent accuracy. (I need all the help I can get [grin]) The knurled rear aperture can be removed leaving a ghost ring rear sight. I have done most of my iron sight shooting through aperture sights and have converted most of my rifles to this configuration. There are no clicks for windage or elevation adjustment, but there is a graduated scale. You loosen a screw and slide the sight to make corrections. I did not like the gold bead on the front and instead had a square post installed.

Other than that, it is a basic 10/22. It has the Volquartsen Automatic Bolt Release , Extended Magazine Release, and Recoil Buffer installed. The flash hider on the front is more to protect the crown than anything else.

That shooting box, rest, carrier, etc is really slick...did you build it yourself?

I'd like to build a LTR soon...if i can find a 10/22, for appleseed. let me know if the box setup has plans....

regards
dave

Yes I built it myself years ago when I was shooting IHMSA. I just modified it to fit the 10/22

THis is one that I built...took me some time...but it was fun....the more I read, the more that I realize I'm not done. I've already turned this 170 dollar 10/22 into a 800 dollar tack driver...but I know that it will be over 1000 by the time I'm done.
