Show me your "Summer CCW"

.32ACP???

Shooting to annoy?

j/k

I know you're just joking, but I get this a lot, here is my canned response:

As the knowledgeable Mr. Kenik says;

"A tremendous number of factors make stopping power all but impossible to quantify. People have died from seemingly minor flesh wounds made by .22 caliber bullets, and on the other hand, there are many accounts of attackers continuing their rampage even after being hit with multiple round of .45 or .357 magnum bullets and even by shotgun rounds"

"Since we can't count on the sheer power of a handgun bullet by itself to stop a threat, we rely on two factors to increase stopping power: shot placement and firing multiple shots."

"shot placement is far more important than caliber"

From Armed Response, if this is some kind of copyright infringement, let me know.

I would also add that the quickness which you can draw from an in-the-pocket holster is ridiculous compared to inside the pants!

I check the classifieds here everyday. Unfortunately not to many of them are MA compliant. I'm pretty sure i shot the P30. The owner lives in VT so they can buy whatever they want.

The P2000 in 357sig is Mass Legal, I have one and LOVE IT. 357sig is not a cheap round to shoot, but its not the most expensive I own.

I carry a Glock 32. 357 sig, as said above, is expensive, but once you shoot it, you fall in love. It has a snap to it, you know that thing is getting the job done, it is zippy and very powerful. Makes 9mm and .40 look like a joke, and doesn't have as big of a "push" as .45, plus you get more rounds in a smaller package.

Everyone loves the .357 I want to get a .357 barrel for my Sig 229R and try it just to see what its like.

My carry is a Ruger LCP in either front or rear pocket. Went from a Sig P239 or a NAA Guardian. The LCP is almost half the weight of the Gaurdian and almost a quarter the weight of the 239. The best of both worlds.

M&P40 as I have a CTAC for it. G22 if it's just a short trip to the store, I've only got a crappy Uncle Mike's. Once I get a quality piece of leather, I'll start carrying the full size 1911.

However, "needing" a summer carry alternative, is a good reason to pick up a new piece. [laugh]

I agree with you, but I'll add one point...it's LOUD! [grin]

All three of my carry guns are in .357 SIG, a Glock 31 (full sized), Glock 32 (compact) and Glock 33 (subcompact). Last summer I carried my G33 almost exclusively, since shorts and a T-shirt is generally all I wear on the hotter days. With all three sizes, I don't have to think about how the gun I'm carrying works as I'm drawing it. All the controls are the same on mine, OEM loaded chamber indicator extractor, OEM extended slide stop lever, 5.5 pound triggers.

I'll see about posting some pictures.

Go big or go home, I say. [smile]

Jose, that's an AWESOME summer carry gun.

My summer carry setup.

Glock 33 (.357 SIG), spare 15 round magazine, OC kubaton keychain, cellphone, Streamlight Strion flashlight (when I'm out at night), and card wallet for gun licenses. I usually carry a cheap folding knife too, but I couldn't find it when I had the camera ready.

primary is G23

secondary is 1911, or sometimes depending on what I'm wearing, the 1911 actually hides better than the Glock. [laugh]

jay_chris, what kind of holsters are those?

I live by the code of Don Hume. [laugh]

they are PCCH (preferred concealment carry holster)...

i like them (obiously)... they work with a $15.00 Lether belt from Target too [smile]

Summer Carry

I carry the Kahr P45 in a Milt Sparks or Mitch Rosen holster and a extra magazine holder. Certain times I will carry the Kahr PM9 in an Alessie ankle holster or a wasteband holster. Both have proven to be very accurate and liight weight to carry for extended periods. It is beneficcial to pay the extra for a quality holster, because in the long run, you will be more comfortable in carrying it for extended times. I also have shoulder holsters, fanny pack, ect. There is a time for each..... [grin]

it used to be this set-up..

stuffing it down the front of your trousers, it's great. of course, you have the whole "i'm about to blow my balls off" issue, even though we all know that guns just don't go off on their own. in the back of the trousers, the gun is so light that it tends to work its way up and nearly fall out, so you're always fiddling with your ass like some froo froo nancy. i've found that hip side is the best deployment for the clip draw. or tossed in a jacket pocket, which totally negates the need for a clip draw in the first place. it's like a laser. cool to have on your gun, but totally f'ing useless when it comes to putting rounds on target in an emergency. [laugh]

Yup, just behind the right hip worked great for me when I clipdraw carried an Airweight.
