Anyone else who have rattle canned builds can provide tips and what you used and how you did it?
Character marks always tell a story.Amazon stencils and Krylon on this MDT chassis. I think it looks better after 2 years of use with the chips and scratches

This budget AR was done a few months back, but it needs to be dragged across asphalt for that 'battle worn ' look

I've been doing up my AR's battle-worn style (Cerakote). Got a few left to do still.People pay extra for that battle-worn stressed chipped paint look.
My advice would be to have a goal in mind. Is the goal to make it look cool to you, or is the goal to make it the most effective camouflage that you can. Those are two different things. Both are valid reasons to paint a rifle. But you have to decide which one you are going for and then pursue that.Trying to Bob Ross one of my builds into something like this:

Effective camo for one. Looking fly with it is a nice byproduct but not necessary. I know the example I posted at the start of this thread isn't the most ldeal as it's a shiny pimp paint job compared to a lot of you guys up here with some effective flat spray with tri color stripes matching your local vegetation. My advice would be to have a goal in mind. Of all the things to have a strong opinion about. LolBob Ross was a fraud. He learned how to paint from Bill Alexander, which is fine. But he not only learned from him, he straight up copied his style and all of his sayings. All the "happy little trees" and other silly things he said he stole directly from Alexander.
The only original thing he did was act light in the loafers. Take an exact copy of Bill Alexander and add a limp-wristed fruitcake with an afro and you get Bob Ross.
Won’t matter. I stuck a cotton ball inside it then sprayed. If you use it as a can mount you should tape it though.I'm going to be rattle canning my 16" AR and my Ruger Gunsite Scout, I do have a question and I've seen it mentioned on forums either way in regards to painting muzzle breaks. Tape off the muzzle break or spray paint it away, it wont matter? Right now i have the Gunsite Scout muzzle break taped off but if i can paint it and wont cause an issue, im just going to paint it.
Ya, don’t have to worry about that in the People’s Republic here. So no can means spraying is good to go. Nice. ThanksWon’t matter. I stuck a cotton ball inside it then sprayed. If you use it as a can mount you should tape it though.

Not great but it’s a start. Only two I’ve done so far. I have a third I’m going to do soon.
Almost looks like hydro-dip. Looks good, regardless.Trying to Bob Ross one of my builds into something like this:

Just a mix of the camo rustolium colors. Tan brown light an dark greenLove it!!!
What colors did you use??
Do you do a top coat after all the colors or nah and welcome the battle scars and paint chips as they come?Just a mix of the camo rustolium colors. Tan brown light an dark green
For the AR10 I tried using leaves and pine needle bunches for texture.
For my next one I’ll base coat it tan and lay the patterns over as I spray the dark colors.
