Show off your Rattle Cans

I got a second AR that I’m debating putting for sale, STAG M4. She’s my rattle can gun with some extras and upgrades.

Does a rattle can impact what I should / might list for? Don’t want to ask for obnoxious number I’ll throw photo up tomorrow when I’m home.

I think so, but maybe it’s me. I don’t know what a stag costs but let’s just say someone had a used m&p15 and 600 bucks was a fair price for it. But they spray painted it the way they like. I’d probably feel like 450 is what I’d wanna do on it. Because then I’d have to paint it the way I like. And I might not want to paint it at all. But at that point the damage is already done. No, I wouldn’t pay the same price for a used spray painted gun as a used gun with the factory finish.

Grab a jug of citristrip gel, pour it all over the gun (dont get it on glass) wait about 45 mins and power wash it, the paint comes right off.

Really? I’ve been holding off rattle canning my Colt only cause it was my late fathers
Keep that one as is and get another one to rattle can.

I've got clones of the M-16 and M4 I carried and have not rattle canned them to maintain their "authenticity".

It’s not that old, he didn’t carry it in the service, he carried the M-14. It was just one of his rifles from his collection a 2012 vintage LE6920. I’ve already swapped out furniture and the factory plastic hand guards

I think the tape wrap is meh, there could be better tape though too.

I have others they will get the spray when I get them where I want them

This also brings up a good point which is you can do a pretty good camo job on just the parts that are easily swapped out like the hand guards, stock, etc. and leave the receivers.

Yeah you just have to break up the profile

Aimpoint makes a FDE cover for the PRO I’m just being a skinflint. I tend to go hog wild on projects but it’s winter I gotta throttle back hahaha

I’ve used that tape before on some machete and knife handles but a couple years later when it started falling off it left all kinds of sticky white shit on the handles. I don’t know if it would have the same effect on your Aimpoint but just an fyi to watch out for that.

Yes. It is like trying to sell a 15 year old Honda Civic with a body kit, spray painted wheels and a fart can.

Thanks for the heads up
I pulled that stuff off. I’ve tried a few different wrap types from the internet over the Past couple days and I think I’m just gonna order the factory dark earth rubber cover for it.

This stuff is more like gauze pad but again I think the self stick residue may be an issue too if you had problems with it as well

Ya there’s something with the self stick stuff, it works great at first, but if I ever used it again I’d change it out frequently before it deteriorates like it did.

Rattle can or cerakote is the way for small attachments.
