SHTF Scenario Choice Poll

Hypothetical:
Prepping for the end of civil society scenario.......
if you had say a spare $3500 you could spend on a luxury prep item, thinking you had enough food, ammo, guns, water, other essentials, and you were given a choice between getting a nice Solar Powered Generator or a low/midgrade thermal scope, what would you choose? or absolutely neither of these ?

I'm thinking
Solar powered generator: The ability to keep your frozen food stores frozen for quite a long period, even after gas runs out.
or
Thermal Scope: The ability to sight and shoot bad guys/marauders at night, or to hunt game at night.

Solar generator would be probably 90% more useful in any actual scenario. Especially if you have a well.

BUT its not nearly as fun

Solar generator all the other things being covered.
Freezer food would only last so long unless you're planning on restocking with deer, elk, wild boar or maybe long pig.
But it would have other things to power. Com gear, recharging batteries, well pump, etc.

Generator. Buy a couple salt licks or other bait and the deer will come to you.

Also night vision is pretty cheap now which would mitigate the lack of the thermal

Thermal runs on rechargeable batteries, so I'm going to need those solar panels to keep them fed.

It's not even a luxury. If you're bugging in, it's a necessity
