I'm looking for a New England state that allows snares for snowshoe hares. I suspect none do. Mine doesn't allow it. I'd be willing to take whatever classes/training is required and get a license, etc.

Does yours allow it?

Im just pulling this out of my ass but I would think this is considered trapping and, In Ma., would fall under that rather than under the hunting regs. In Ma. I believe there is a trapping course that needs to be taken. Again strictly out of my ass

Your ass would be right. (I held a MA trapping license when I lived there.)

However, Ma. only permits "Nice" traps (Havaheart or "box" style traps).
Conibears can be used in watersets for beaver though.

In NH I can finally put my legholds to good use. There is a specific rule against using snares on Snowshoe hares and Cottentails but I havent been able to find anything stating they can't be used on other animals.

(Its a given they're not lawful for deer.) Should be an interesting season.
