Dumb idea is dumb and becomes dumber when you jam the 2011 for simply looking at it the wrong way.

I'll give these marketing people credit though they figured out how to get people high off smelling their own farts. That's literally the only way that thinking a 2011 is a good fighting handgun.... only way it makes sense is if you're doing some drugs while you're thinking it. 🤣
I only click on these stupid Reptile threads to read your replies.

But I stay to laugh at the mental gymanstics some make.

Ahem, I got lit up over this a couple months back. So…. The Staccato and Nighthawk are based on Colt Series 70 as opposed to series 80 pistols that have the trigger bar safety so the triggers are better in the series 70 pistols. So virtually all 1911/2011 pistols with a series 70 style mechanism will fail drop tests. Did I get that right, NES 1911 autists? Sorry, Garand Thumb and I are apparently both retarded.

I thought they fail drops tests if they have a worn out firing pin spring?

I can't stand Reeves. He's such a tool. Too arrogant. He did a whole series on old-west-y guns. He was a complete moron the entire time. It was cringy.

I like his ideas for content. If they could only find someone else to be in front of the camera. ROFL!!!

4,300 bucks for a pistol. [rofl2] [rofl2] [rofl2].
Almost exactly half of a new Infinity.

There are tricks to making series 70 1911s drop safe, but they involve things like extra power firing pin springs and titanium firiing pins to reduce inertia - not mechanical interlocks to provide a "by design" fix. These 1911s can pass statutory drop tests required in some jurisdictions. The Ti firing pin spring may, emphasis may, reduce the chances of a 1911 going off when sucked into an MRI machine. I prefer the mechanical interlock on a carry gun. Digital vs. Analog on the safety operation.

The Schwarz 1911 safety was interesting because there were no additional parts that the trigger had to move, as the grip safety engaged it. I wonder why it never caught on.

And the term is "firing pin block", not "trigger bar". A trigger bar safety sounds like a term to better describe revolver hammer blocking (S&W) or transfer bar (Ruger) internal safeties.

My 2011 style 9x19 Infinity has been flawless, except for the time I got some .380 brass mixed in with my 9mm. I bought a Shockbottle 100 round chamber check gauge so that will not happen again. From what I have seen, the Infinity internal extractor really helps with reliability (no need for tuning), plus there is no ugly extractor cut on the slide like most pivoting extractor 1911's (S&W, some older Kimbers, SIG). There is no internal channel for the extractor so there is more room to deep machine slides for optics. The only downside is that it is a proprietary part with no second source manufacturers.

Given you can go buy a DA/SA or SAO Sig Legion, some other pretty model by Sig, many other brands of quality that are as reliable as they come, double stack, out of the box at "tip only" sorta butt rape $1500 retail (and many around here probably pay half that), it's unlikely I'd be seeking a 2011, ever. Though Sig could use a double stack .45 or 10mm.

Bottom line though, it's a full retard test. A Glock might be a perfectly great firearm but nothing about them compares right to a 1911/2011 or anything with a hammer.

Yeah, but then you become a Sigger.

That's way less of a problem than the fact that it's a 2011, probably the most finicky f***ing platform on the planet that doesn't involve 22 LR.
.25 auto has to be in that group of finicky stuff.

I feel sorry for the authors. They can't afford a shot timer?

PSTG recently had a podcast comparing Glocks and 2011s. There's actual valuable information there, unlike in this video.

The 1911 is so good next to no one carries them for duty anymore.
I don't think 1911s were ever really common police duty guns outside of special units in some places. This makes the current stac etc marketing that much more amusing. 🤣

I did watch it finally with a judicious use of the FF button. Shocked!

TBF - they are all Glock shooters. But will the Sympatico run 2x as fast? 3x as fast? 25% faster??? No. Is it more accurate? Not really. But I think someone that shoots the platform more often would have significantly different results.
