We just ate 3 cans of Hormel Chili from 2014. Tasted just like a new can. The USDA is definitely conservative in its guidance.
We've been cycling out some of the older things we set aside from 2012-2014. Tomato canned products are so far the only disappointment as they eat the cans internally. I have pasta sauce from 2010 in glass as a longer term experiment. Still good when I tested one a few months ago.
