I grabbed some. One of two ammo varieties I’m allowing myself to purchase at this point (.380 HST is the other if anyone ever sees it). I know it’s pricey to begin with and the IMI version is still a buck a round. Worth the extra .38 cpr? Probably not, but oh well.
i do not like it at all.
i would advise to use a common predictable ammo - and with 1:8 twist it is better to stick to M855.
it is really not that difficult - you zero your scope to the ammo with best grouping you shoot the most - like for me it is a .223 68gr.
concurrently with that you need to know the drops and corrections you need for the 5.56 of your use - and the M855 compared to the .223 68gr goes about an inch higher at 100yds.
then you set and memorize drops at 200, 300 - and go with that.
the oddballs like mk262 - i can get it why they may use it in SBRs, but, overall it is an oddball that does not fit well, at least for me.
M855 is the battle round you need to stock up and keep in your 30rd mags, a bit, in a case if you will need to use it in a real thing. and you need to know its drops very well from all your rifles.
PS. and the best thing to do about the SBR - is to swap it for a tavor x95, zeroed with M855. even with its 1:7 twist x95 groups m855 very well, not as great as 1:8 twist barrels, but, well.
again, what i am saying is this - it is a very stupid idea to mix up .223 and 5.56 in all the 55, 62, 68, 77gr combinations. learn and stick to 2 or, top, 3 base ammo kinds - like a dirt cheap .223 55gr steel, then a best grouping .223 your barrel shoots best and the M855 - and you will be able to hit anything within 300yds without complex mathematics and adjustments.
start throwing in M193, mk262, 4 different sorts of .223 - and you will never be sure of what to expect.
