I'm thinking I had that moment this past weekend. While perusing a local shop I was surprised to see a very nice condition H&K P7 M13 in the case. It came with 3 mags, original box and instruction book. Cost - $4000. Yes I fondled it. Yes I let it sit on the counter while I stared at it calculating how much trouble I'd be in budget wise if I bought it. Yes, I stared at it some more as I argued in my head about whether to buy it or not. All the while a nice gentleman was standing a couple feet behind me the whole time. Finally I made my decision, albeit regretfully, to pass. No sooner had the gun shop employee started putting it away when the gentlemen behind me said he'd take it. The employee chuckled and said to me that the guy had been eyeing me and patiently waiting for me to make my decision the whole time. I regretted my choice immediately.

The part that really hurt is that I want online when I got home and saw how much they are going for. Hell, there's even one on this board going for $5500. I should have jumped on it.

Oh well, sometime you get the deal, sometimes you don't.

What have you left behind that you regretted?

@Arioch and his wife Sandy went to the second(?) NES shoot at WGC a long long time ago. He brought his spanking new Barrett .50 and while I never shot it, my pants go tighter. Now they are way beyond my budget, which is $0.00 for gun stuff.

That's not really a deal though, that's just cosby land.

P7s are done. That decision would have made sense when the gun was $2500 or less, but not now.

My biggest mistake like that though is similar. I sold a P7M8 that I shouldn't have, and what I should have done is tried to get a 2nd one before the prices really took off. Now it's basically way too late and I refuse to drop what they're asking just to get one gun.

Fred Lotter had a compact 945 for some stupid low price. I do'nt NEED a 1911ish platform. But it was tempting. There are days. . . .

Oh, I know. REally. 1875 Rem in 45Colt. MArlboro gun show. No price. So I don't even bother to ask because if you gotta ask. . . .

A few rows later, I bump into a buddy. "Did you see that 75?" "Oh yeah, no price. I didn't even bother." I forget what the guy IN FRONT OF HIM bought it for, but I was dying. What a moron I was. Never been a more natural pointing pistol than a Rem 58/75. :(

Buying 5 more of these when they were about $220.00 with two thirties, sling and oiler. I figured I could get them the way I wanted and just store them as a just in case. Not mine but close enough:

I spent $20.00 on parts, and a rainy day with it in the garage and built internal dimples, reworked the metal and wood and buffed the piston/bolt to a mirror finish. By the time I got off my butt to get them, that ship sailed.

Just because they are listed elsewhere for more $$$$ , doesn't mean they'll sell.

I hope you're wrong. I got my P7 a few months back.

I should have bought a trench gun 5 years ago when I first wanted one, but I kept putting it off and now the prices for a real wwii are through the roof.

M16 for $1.2k.. Felt it was a waste of ammo at the time, I also just ETS'd out of the service :)

it's not that I wish I had a machine gun, it's that I could have made $30k selling it lol

Maybe also a Saiga 12 when they were first released, i think they were like $300?

P7 are overrated and that’s a hill I’ll die on

Show at the Shriners in Wilmington. Forget the year, late 90's early 2000's, Guy has almost new in box Colt .22 Diamondbacks (yes plural) for $400 and LNIB Pythons for $500. I was barely employed at the time and didn't have a pot to piss in so I had to pass. I found a Python at a semi reasonable price a few years ago from Harry at Noahs Motors. Never found an reasonable Diamondback...

In 2005 I passed on a 2001 Estoril Blue ///M coupe with the S54 motor in it. I ended up going with an E46 M3 which I loved, but have been lusting over the original clown shoes ever since.

Guns? 1992ish Delta Elite. This was in the early 00s and a friend was “bored” with it. It was in immaculate condition.

After I had just got my permission slip, a coworkers husband was selling his late Uncle's toys for his Aunt. I was to green to understand how a FTF transaction transpired. To new to value a used firearm also, and passed on a snubnose Python at a decent price, along with some hunting rifles and shotguns. There have been others, AK's (non WASR's), AR's and vintage revolvers too.

There have been houses that I should have bought but passed on because they cost a little more money beyond what I wanted to spend vs. what I could have afforded during the economic boom and bust. Add in some major interior renovations that I should have done back in the day that have become cost prohibitive now too.

June of 2016 I was visiting a friend in North Attleboro and on the way I stopped at Gartman Arms and they had a Vepre on the wall for like $800 and I had it in my hand but didn't buy it because I was getting into AR's at that time
