Following. I have it pretty bad also. I can hear ok in normal situations, just have that constant background ringing. If I’m in a restaurant or somewhere with background noise, I can’t hear a normal conversation. This is ridiculous...My VA Doc recommended I go to audiology to scope out hearing aids, anybody's tinnitus has been successfully treated by hearing aids?

It really sucks.
Well, as a bunch of things that will trigger it beside loud noises, one of them being coming off VA meds....lol in fairness, I was in the service before the advent of hearing loss prevention...I have been getting ringing for about a year. I just realized that lack of sleep appears to trigger it for me.
I don't even like talking about it for fear it gets any worse, if that's possible...haha

I found a meditation app called Balance. It has some sleep sounds, including ocean waves. I use that when I go to sleep. Some nights I have to turn on the TV to sleep. I have thought about pursuing hearing aids for my hearing loss but I can’t imagine them helping tinnitus.

I use with my air pods. I tried to use it with a Bluetooth speaker but couldn’t get it work, but I didn’t try very hard. I should try that again because sleeping with air pods sucks.Thanks. I will give it a try.
I usually go a while without noticing it. Then someone says “tinnitus” and it’s like summoning a demon. It appears and annoys me for a whileI don't even like talking about it for fear it gets any worse, if that's possible...haha

Lots of audiobooks help me. Concerts with fitted protect from making it worse. It’s been getting to the point where any amount of background noise causes a complete deafness while in a conversation.
Yep, me too.LOL, your talking about it and this thread made mine more noticeable, I think it got worse in the last 10 minutes.
Yup. Noisy restaurants with a large group just sucks.I can have conversations in restaurants anymore. I just can’t hear enough to have an intelligent conversation. If I can see someone’s lips that helps.

Some of us are an example of what's to come for all the stupid crap we did from our younger years until now. You're almost in the club.Sry to read about this guys.
My mother has tinnitus and she was never in the military nor was as she a shooter. She did have four noisy kids though.
I take great precautions with shooting. I only ever shot deer without hearing protection with a 12g and that leaves the ears ringing for sure. Tried 9mm once and that was a bit shocking too. Above that I used plugs and now Walker noise canceling muffs which seriously cut out every shot. Amazing.
For small engines and other machines I use protection as well and I use those machines very often.
I’m not sure what will happen in another 20 years when I’m 65 but time till tell.
