Trying some pocket guns

not to threadjack but i figured i would jump in here instead of starting a new thread, if that's ok with the OP...but i'm in the market for a small summer carry as well...as far as what i am looking for:

-single stack
-accurate
-easy to field strip
-striker fired (as i already have a g19 so similar operation is a plus)
-6+ round magazine (extended mag/baseplate availability is a plus)
-9mm or .380 (leaning towards 9mm due to the g19 so i don't have to get into another caliber)
-not too snappy (if possible)
-like to have a little more grip to grab (not a fan of not being able to get at least half my pinky finger on the grip)
-slim and small (as i am not a very big guy 6' 170# so i can't avoid printing very easily in the summer depending how i carry)
-no external safety (if possible)
-decent trigger

i've been looking at the following:

9mm
kahr pm9
kahr cm9
glock 43
ruger lc9s pro
s&w shield
springfield xds

.380
kahr cw380
kahr p380
glock 42
ruger lcp

also does anyone know a good range that has some of these to rent in the southcoast ma area?

i have been reading and watching video reviews and at the moment i'm between a pm9 and a g43 but i'd like to take them all for a test ride

In .380.. ive tried alot.. and the glock 42 is the best .. small pocket gun. There is no recoil at all.

In 9mm i loved the shield and i am sure the xds in 9mm is good too, the issues with it are weight and size.. the shield at 19 oz then a few more and you are close to a glock 26 weight with none of the gain in capacity. The xds is heavier than a 26 . In lightweight clothing.. without a belt.. your going to look like a sterotypical pant sagging gangbanger in a pocket.

ive shot both calibers of kahrs and could not get into that trigger. And it did have a fair amount of recoil.

I owned the lcp.. and while excellent at a hideout pistol.. the recoil is a bitch. And it has shitty sights.

The sig 238, and 938 are great shooters if you like 1911 styles.

I will be trying my friends lc9s in a few weeks and will let you know..

Tried the glock 43 and couldnt get used to that gun... just more recoil that i wanted to deal with in a pocket pistol. Try it against a 42 at MFS and you will see what i mean.

Whenever you go up to 9mm you get Moah.. recoil.. so either you have to adapt or do what i did and go for a 380.

Point... if i can hide a glock 42 in yoga pants and a shirt.. running... you can hide any of these 380's.. or any of single stacks listed ...

I guess I should clarify my original post. I was referring to jacket pocket carry, not trousers. I never found a comfortable way to carry in a pants pocket and prefer to carry my hammer shrouded model 60 in an iwb holster. Jacket pocket carry places the 60 in my right pocket, balanced by a couple of speed loaders in the left hand pocket, no holster.

One of the advantages of this carry is that you can establish your grip on the gun and be ready to fire from the pocket without anyone else the wiser, avoiding potential criminal charges and law suits should you misread the situation. The only way to get a holstered weapon in the ready position is to draw it and expose it to the public and you to possible criminal charges.

As much as I always hate to say it, Keltec P3AT. I carried mine again today because it disappears in a pocket front or back.

It's so small there's no other gun I've come across that suits actual pocket carry better. Does it suck to shoot? Yes. Is it useful beyond 15 feet? Not really. But damn does it fit in a pocket for all day, no print carry in a simple pocket holster in any pants.
This is what I also carry but can do better than 15'. I put a laser on mine too for the cool factor. Its accurate up to about 20'. Using the sites I'm good to about 30'.

But like you say, the thing disappears in your pocket.

I was thinking about getting the Ruger LC9s but never held one or shot one before...

Yet another shout out for the LC9s Pro. Very easy to throw into a pocket. Yes, it is a little more bulky than a LCR or some others, but I have had zero issues and haven't had anyone notice it in my pocket.

Thanks for all the info Queen Bee...I'll take that into account...I'll have to try getting to MFS sometime to try some of these out...looks like they have 5 of the 10 on my list to rent

Whats the point of being able to shoot from your pocket, unless you're practically touching what you're shooing at you've got no chance of hitting it, this isnt the movies. Revolvers are all too bulky to pocket carry, the cylinder is too wide but with how big phones are getting these days with the right holster you could pocket carry a baby 9 in skinny jeans without drawing any suspicion.
all too bulkey to pocket carry? You have absolutely no idea what you are talking About. My grandfather carried. Chief special in his BACk pocket of his trousers for DECADES. Never got made. I carry a revolver every day iwb in summer and jacket pocket winter. Pants pocket carry of a j frame sized revolver is absolutely viable.
