That was confusing. When I say I drop 10-15 percent more birds I mean skeet or sporting clays.

And the term drop means miss meaning im not nearly as good with a 410 and that gauge for me is alot harder than the others

I would never hunt actual birds with a .410. Not enough room for errors for me. Lowest ill go for any birds on the wing is 28 gauge, I use fiochi golden pheasant loads 6’s and it will take down pheasant pretty well

love that fiocchi golden pheasant, though I am shooting partridge with it.
sometimes i will use the .22 for partridge, but that's just to be fancy if they are kicking around the gravel

I am not a Hunter.

But as a person that has had a lot of experience with shotguns. I would go with a 20g semi.
That is going to absorb to most recoil.

30 Yards should be fine with a good full choke and any decent turkey shot. Wind will affect it on a 410. Realistically you can play the wind though too if it is real windy, just shoot to one side or other of the birds head and let the wind blow the shot into the head.

Shoot a few clays with and you'll have a a lot of fun....recoil is like a .22 with target loads, its hilarious...it throws you off because there is no recoil....

We got out and sighted in the gun and tested some loads. This thing is awesome! Barely any recoil. At 20 yards it will literally remove the head of a bird. 30 yards its dead....



40 yards and the bird is still done.

Im moving a lot of my sporting clays stuff to either lighter lower recoiling loads or trading/selling some of my 12 gauge guns off to fund 28 gauge target guns.

Unfortunately the market is small and hard to come by on those things and tends to be more expensive B guns or Rizzini's. I generally dont like to shoot autoloaders cause i reload the shells and don't want to go find them after.
