Anyone have experience with the 2? I have been looking for a PM9 for over a year. I actually wanted one since I got my license. Then I learned they didn't meet the AG regs even though they were on the eops list. I was about to give up and get a PPS when a member local to me expressed interest in selling his PM9 two-tone with night sights. The cost is a little higher than msrp and more expensive than the pps. The pps does not have ns sights though.

Either gun would be pocket carried in a desantis superfly. I just have no experience with Kahrs.

Thanks

I'd go with a Kahr. Shot the CW9 and the PPS. I have large hands and the feeling of the PPS in mine was off to say the least. Shot 2 magazines out of both, in the PPS only 1 hit the paper target at 15 ft, all rounds on paper for the Kahr.

YMMV.

best pocket auto ever." -Wiley Clapp

I don't have any experience with the PPS, but I do with the PM9. Based on that experience, I am not even interested in looking at the PPS. I really like the PM9.

I too have been looking for the PM9 for sometimes, had the Kahr.40 -> K9mm and now the P9. They all have shot great, the P9 is great for CC especially with the warmer weather coming...and yes, this too was not a inexpensive. Not much choice being in MA.

Please update with range report if and when you get it.

I love my PM9. It is my spring, summer, fall and winter pocket carry when IWB or OWB is not an option. Also my ankle carry as a BUG.

And now!!... OWB with a paddle holster... LOL

I love it.

I don't have any experience with the PPS. I do like my PM9. I've got several guns that I can use for pocket carry, but the PM9 is the only one that I use.

I decided to make another offer on the PM9. I should know by this afternoon what the seller thinks.

One thing to remember is that the PM9 requires a lot of rounds through it to get it broken in. If it is already broken in, it would save you the cost of all that ammo.

The break in is supposed to be 200 rounds but the PM9 requires some practice anyway.

Right., but I wasn't comfortable that it was "broken in" until around 500 rounds.

10 boxes at $12 may make a difference in what he is considering offering.

I don't think mine even has 500 rounds through it, though it's probably close and hasn't had one jam of any type.

It does make me think though. LT1MCSS, the first two letters of the serial numbers on Kahrs are a version of sorts. The latest version is IA (I think) and are known to be quite reliable. Earlier versions are reputed to have some issues.

I didn't need anywhere near 500 rounds through mine before I was comfortable with it. YMMV.

We'll see I haven't heard anything back yet. I think it had around 250 rounds through it according to the seller which would put it just past the break in process.

I would like to get it but im not going to spend ridiculous amounts of money on it.

Ok, so i did some more research on the Kahr's today and decided the best way to answer my questions were to email Kahr customer service directly. I found the director of customer service's email on another website and emailed him.

My question was about the round count life-span. Some people rumored it to be in the 2500 range. The other was if I had any problems with the gun or somehow got a cracked frame. Knowing Glock will not replace 3rd gen frame I decided to ask and here is the reply that i got.

Mike,

The PM9's service life is far greater then 2500 rounds. We have tested
these guns with tens of thousands of rounds with requiring nothing other
then traditional care and feeding (recoil spring changes, etc.

In terms of a MA compliant PM9, we are now able to sell the gun in MA. We
are in process of retooling for the additional Loaded Chamber Indicator and
External Safety the MA AG is requiring us to put on the gun. You will see
the gun in the MA market hopefully, this summer.

If you were to send the traditional (non-legal) PM9 to us for repair, we
would not be allowed to return it to your MA address.

In terms of longevity and overall reliability of the gun itself...., I hope
I have answered your question, We sell more PM9's then any other gun. If
the shelf life was only 2500 rounds, we would not be selling too many.

Hope this helps,

Needless to say I was happy, surprised, and still a little confused by the reply. We all know Kahr is on the EOPS list but still not able to be sold in MA. It looks like they are looking to change this possibly. We won't know this for sure though untill it actually happens.

I replied to the email and maybe I will here more back.

I wonder if any dealers know about this? Some of Carl's regulars should mention this to him and see if he has heard anything.

It would be nice if the Kahr CS rep knew MA laws a little better. All Kahrs are already legal for MA residents to own.

That is good news though.

I sent another email explaining that. I haven't gotten a reply yet. The part I found interesting is that he said they were retooling for an external safety and loaded chamber indicator

External Safety? That could possibly make it very uncomfortable to pocket carry. I'm also not all that happy to hear about the service policy. That's some BS.

As of last week, there were no Kahrs in stock in the Camfour system. I got to look over someones shoulder and ask for S & G's. I would assume if the Mass compliant version is coming they would be a special run with a safety and a horrible trigger.
