PEPPERELL -- The PAL Shooting Program for the youth of Pepperell will begin on Sept. 30 at 9 a.m. at the Pepperell police station. This program will consist of teaching firearms safety to the youth of Pepperell, as well as competitive shooting at the police range.
The program is designed for ages 12 through 16 inclusive and will require participants to stop at the Pepperell police station prior to Sept. 30 to sign up for the program. This will require a permission slip signed by a parent or guardian (provided by the police) and a fee of $10. This money is to defray the cost of supplies needed to run the program.

It is mandatory that all who wish to participate be present at the Sept. 30 class as this is the safety aspect of the program and without this class participants cannot shoot at the range.

The next four Saturday sessions, Oct. 7, 14, 21 and 28 (weather permitting), will be held at the Pepperell police firing range, where the actual competition shooting will take place. At the end of the program, trophies will be awarded for first, second and third places and for the most-improved shooter.
