Very sad day (Update 3/23)

Oh Tony....I'm so very sorry. You were right...that pic - he was definately the King of Cool. I truly hurt for you hun. Know, however, when he passed, he was with the human he loved. And, whenever you sit in the chair where he placed his head on your lap, he WILL be there with you, dearheart. Just close your eyes and you'll feel him.

I know He Man Marines don't like mushy hugs, but I'm sending a big one to you anyway.

Sad news indeed. My condolences to you.

Lynne, I can't speak for Marines, but, some of us "He Man Army types" might not admit it, but we actually do like big mushy hugs at appropriate times. This would be one of those times.

Thanks, again, to everyone. I just got back from the vet's office and brought Beau back home. The worst part of the last three days has been that Beau was under someone elses care.

He's home now and we'll finish out the arrangements we made. We have a flowering dogwood tree that we recieved for recycling our Christmas tree three years ago. We've been growing it in a large pot on our lanai wondering where we wanted to plant it permantently. When we put Beau in his final resting place it will stand above him.

That's very fitting and proper Tony. I'm sure, with Beau's help, that tree will grow big and strong and be the most beautiful flowering tree in the neighborhood.

Yesterday afternoon we brought "Buddy" home from Jax, FL. It is uncanny how he was immediately 'at home' when we walked in the door and his mannerisms mirror Beau's. Like he belongs here and was just gone for a couple weeks. He has certainly filled a big hole!

Deepest sympathy. You have chosen a fitting tribute.

I Stood By Your Bed
I stood by your bed last night, I came to have a peep.
I could see that you were crying, You found it hard to sleep.

I whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear,
"It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."

I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea,
You were thinking of the many times your hands reached out to me.

I was with you at the shops today, Your arms were getting sore.
I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more.

I was with you at my grave today, You tend it with such care.
I want to reassure you that I'm not lying there.

I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key.
I gently put my paw on you, I smiled and said "it's me."

You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair.
I tried so hard to let you know that I was standing there.

It's possible for me to be so near you everyday.
To say to you with certainty, "I never went away."

You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew ...
In the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.

The day is almost over... I smile and watch you yawning
and say "goodnight, God bless, I'll see you in the morning."

And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide,
I'll rush across to greet you and we'll stand, side by side.

I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see.
Be patient, live your journey out ... then come home to be with me.

RoundGun - That was very cool. I don't think Beau could wait for us so he came back. I guantee you that a dog's life in this house is as close to Heaven as one could get!

Congrats on the new family member. May you all enjoy many happy years together!

We got our new lab mutt Hamilton 8 months after loosing Kasper, the "best dog in the world", at only 5 to leukemia last year. We are afraid no dog can ever live up to Kasper, obit at http://www.geocities.com/kaspersdad/FarewellKasper/Farewell.html.

And Hammy is one silly fat pup for sure. But we love him, and he really fills a void in our lives. It's not cheating on love of Kasper to have a new dog. Some day we may even call him the "best dog in the world".

Personaly we couldn't stand the idea of burying him the yard because then we would never move! We had him cremated with a squeeky toy and tennis ball. I'm crying now in my cube I loved the damn dog so much. He is in a nice wooden urn with a picture in front, next the "best cat in the world" who we lost just a month later.

Aw Tony, he's adorable. Then again cockers have a soft spot in my heart anyways. My spoiled babies wish you guys the best. Many happy years together.[wink]

Awwww! What a little cutie! [wave] I want a puppy [grin]

Oh Tony!!! He's SOOOOOOO cute!!!! And you're right....it helps to have another baby. It never completely fills the vacant spot, but it sure helps a lot. Just make sure Buddy gets along with the neighbor so he doesn't "christen" the back seat. [laugh] [wink]

We did the same. Beau has two pictures and his "dog" tags on top of his urn. We just haven't been able to put him where we plan just yet.

Tony, glad to hear that you've found a new friend. Or perhaps an old one.

Ross, I think both.

Hah! Different neighbors, different town. Hard telling what's in store for this little guy.

Yeah, it's making me want another cocker.[smile] [laugh] Except Alan wants a puppy when he gets back, and Glenn wants to get a hunting dog too.
