TonyD said:Thanks, again, to everyone. I just got back from the vet's office and brought Beau back home. The worst part of the last three days has been that Beau was under someone elses care.
He's home now and we'll finish out the arrangements we made. We have a flowering dogwood tree that we recieved for recycling our Christmas tree three years ago. We've been growing it in a large pot on our lanai wondering where we wanted to plant it permantently. When we put Beau in his final resting place it will stand above him.

I Stood By Your Bed
I stood by your bed last night, I came to have a peep.
I could see that you were crying, You found it hard to sleep.
I whined to you softly as you brushed away a tear,
"It's me, I haven't left you, I'm well, I'm fine, I'm here."
I was close to you at breakfast, I watched you pour the tea,
You were thinking of the many times your hands reached out to me.
I was with you at the shops today, Your arms were getting sore.
I longed to take your parcels, I wish I could do more.
I was with you at my grave today, You tend it with such care.
I want to reassure you that I'm not lying there.
I walked with you towards the house, as you fumbled for your key.
I gently put my paw on you, I smiled and said "it's me."
You looked so very tired, and sank into a chair.
I tried so hard to let you know that I was standing there.
It's possible for me to be so near you everyday.
To say to you with certainty, "I never went away."
You sat there very quietly, then smiled, I think you knew ...
In the stillness of that evening, I was very close to you.
The day is almost over... I smile and watch you yawning
and say "goodnight, God bless, I'll see you in the morning."
And when the time is right for you to cross the brief divide,
I'll rush across to greet you and we'll stand, side by side.
I have so many things to show you, there is so much for you to see.
Be patient, live your journey out ... then come home to be with me.

Awwww! What a little cutie! I want a puppyTonyD said:Yesterday afternoon we brought "Buddy" home from Jax, FL. It is uncanny how he was immediately 'at home' when we walked in the door and his mannerisms mirror Beau's. Like he belongs here and was just gone for a couple weeks. He has certainly filled a big hole!
Buddy - 12/13/05
Already weighs 9 lbs!

I'm crying now in my cube I loved the damn dog so much. He is in a nice wooden urn with a picture in front, next the "best cat in the world" who we lost just a month later.
Tony, glad to hear that you've found a new friend. Or perhaps an old one.
Lynne said:Oh Tony!!! He's SOOOOOOO cute!!!! And you're right....it helps to have another baby. It never completely fills the vacant spot, but it sure helps a lot. Just make sure Buddy gets along with the neighbor so he doesn't "christen" the back seat.
Thanx, Chuck, but it'll have to wait until I'm not working anymore - it isn't fair to have a puppy and never be able to spend time with it Someday.......Chuck said:http://www.petfinder.org. Lots of fur-babies needing nice homes with someone to take them duck hunting...
