hey guys,

i've been looking to buy a compact carry pistol, and the walther had caught my eye. I've been doing some reading and see some good reviews.
any input on this pistol? i hear the .40 is pretty snappy to shoot.

any suggestions on local dealers that carry walther? thanks for the help guys

i just wish you could try the things out at the S&W shooting center. ah well

I have 2 full size P 99's one in 9 and one in 40 and I like them alot. They fit the hand well and they shoot well as long as the shooter does their part. I don't have a problem with the 40 being too snappy but in the compact it probably would be more likely.

I have one in .40 S&W. If you want you can test fire it when I pick up my group buy knife.

I've been watching it here and there. They're coming along nicely!

I really like the P99c. I don't think .40 is "too much" for it. It's a compact, but it's not really "ultra" compact.... It's actually a bit on the big side for a carry gun IMHO. It works great in the winter in an IWB under a sweater, but I'm actually looking for something smaller for summertime pocket carry. (Probably a S&W 442 or 642.)

yeah i went to check one out at a local shop today. it's pretty nice but i think it is a little bulky, and the whole compact deal kind of ruins the ergonomics of the p99. and of course the p22 feels awesome in the hand and is a great little gun, but it's .22

and the new pk380 is uglier than a glock ; )

I have one in 9mm I like it alot I do not carry it that offend but it is a great pistol. You are more than welcome to give mine a try if you are ever in the worcester area.

What were your thoughts on the PPS?

I have a PPS in 9mm that I "stole" from someone who won it in a raffle. It's nice to carry and shoots well but I would have gone for the .40 if I had had a choice. One thing I didn'tn care for was that it came with one mag, the 7 round. In the case of the 9, that is the middle size. I'm not sure, but I believe they all ship w/one mag, and a second is +$40.

is the p99 as trigger any different in MA versus one sold out of MA. (example, the walther PPS and the S&W M&P series have a different trigger pull in MA then they do out of MA) IS the AS trigger in the P99 different from the "free state" ones?

Thanks,
Amurr
