I want to put a range bag together so all my stuff is in one place. What are the items you need, or just like to have when heading to the range?

I have the basics:
Spare mag, ammo, towel, cleaning brush, oil, eye and ear protection, targets, Leatherman tool, and a marker to write on my targets if I change something that improves my shooting.

What is the thing you just don't go without?

Some sort of bag or other container to hold spent brass for calibers that I reload. Even if you don't reload now, it's a good idea to save up your brass. Either you'll start reloading and have a nice stockpile, or you can sell it to a reloader and recoup some of your costs.

I keep a headlight style flashlight in my bag (the kind you put on your head).......if you get a stuck round in a chamber makes it easier to work on things with two hands.

Guns.

But seriously: a Monandnock D-Jammer for squibs, a Wal-mart brush kit where all the pieces fit in the handle (my DW 22 gets dirty real fast and the chambers get sticky), a big bag o' earplugs, that NRA hat you get every year for renewing (my range hat), muffs, Uplula mag loader, a tote bag for picking up my brass and a camping dustpan and brush for same and a Maglite 2AA for checking the bore.

Posted from my car phone.

I have a spare red cable lock that also doubles as a chamber flag.

I've been meaning to pick up some chamber flags...

a stapler or some spray adhesive for targets @ the outdoor, and some paper plates

THIS... my range has 'em, but I bring my own usually.

You're forgetting porn. [laugh]

Well I've got a handful of random loose ammo in mine. There's a bottle of earplugs. UPLula mag loaders, spare mags, boxes of ammo, ear muffs, bags for stuff.
Then the targets and glasses come along with my badge for the club and stuff.

My range bag contains Eye and ear PRO, a barrel rod, a Surefire flashlight, targets, a container of Hoppes 9 lube, a black sharpie for marking targets, extra lenses for my Oakleys, several types of holsters in case I want to practice draw-fire, and the ONE THING I can't go without? My firearms. [wink]

Things you didnt list; Hand warmer packets, binoculars and spare batteries for whatever site I have.

First aid kit, small zip lock bag for small parts, screwdrivers, allen wrenches and a few assorted tools. And the obvious.

My range bag, for the most part, contains all the non-gun items I think I will or might need at the range.

First aid kit, ear protectors (LOTS of spare foam plugs - ran into a family at the range once with no ear protectors for the kids, gave them all a set of foam plugs - it was "for the children"), tape and pasters for targets, tape to repair targets, a set of shooting gloves, a small tool kit, cleaning supplies (mainly bore brushes and some lubricant), eye protection.

In the very bottom I have room for a .22 pistol and 100 rounds of ammo JUST IN CASE I forget something necessary to shoot the other guns. Yes, I have done that before. [banghead]

Also have a spare side pocket and insert for a bigger pistol.

Also: several cotton towels.

Thanks for all the great ideas! Lots of stuff I would have forgotten.
And as for the porn.....I did say I had mags....and a towel. BTW. How do I make the little grinning guy that everyone puts after a joke?

Stapler, staples, cleaning stuff, random tools, random ear plugs (some new, some used), some random ammo and brass, spare eye pro. Spoons for stripper clips because I'm too cheap to buy lots more magazines, so I load all my loose .223 onto clips. Keys for trigger locks that I may not even own anymore. Some markers and pens, I think. An old OC pen thing that I put there so it wouldn't get mixed up and I'd do something dumb.

Probably have a few magazines worth of loose ammo between my range bag and my truck. I keep finding loose rounds in the seats and cupholders and console and mean to shoot it, but always forget about it.

Small bottle of windex. If you're shooting mil surp corrosive.

I have Windex in my box and was under the impression that the ammonia in it neutralized the corrosive salts in the primer. After some research, it turns out that it is actually the water in the Windex that flushes the salts out, the ammonia is good simply because it helps everything evaporate quicker. Before I shoot some corrosive stuff again I will be buying some ballistol and mixing it with water instead of Windex going forward. This will do the same thing as the Windex but when it drys you have a protective coat of oil left on your bore, rather than nothing from the ammonia stripping it clean.

Roll of masking tape for target holes
Various screwdrivers and tools
Pair of pliers
AR and AK sight tool
I basically have a small tool box, I need to change this and make it more functional.

<- ordering 5.11 range bag.

click the smiley face above on the tool bar and it gives you more options

I dont know what a range bag is. I have a range box. Its a circa 1990 sears craftsman tool box. I usually have empty ammo boxes, a pair of wal mart binoculars, random .22 LR's and 7.62x39's, a staple gun and some crushed up crappy targets from wally world or dicks.
