Wooden Bullet Ammunition

I just read an article in GUNS magazine about Mausers from Finland, the writer stated some guns used a firing adapter for use with wooden bullets.

I wonder what the point of those things is.... and if they even fly very
far. I imagine at close range they probably hurt like hell, though. (not
that I would ever want to be at the business end of a real gun).

They will penetrate at close range. I remember reading about the 6.5x55 that Samco sold a while back.
After all, I can put a bamboo wooden dart from a blowgun through a full can of soda, and thats just with my lung capacity.

I just scored 4 boxes of these wooden blanks this weekend, just to have. I will of course see what they are capable of (without the firing adapter!).

wooden blanks

be very careful with them the germans were in training when the invasion went down and only had them.[some of the troops]they killed a few americans at close range then the BAR man killed them.I have shot them in a G43 and they break up in front, but they will go some feet.we used them in ww1 as granade launchers as they past thru the center of the granade.owers were solid wood. I have a couple.and Isreal used them too,I have a couple purple bullet.[rolleyes]
