Your New Knife!

Great looking ones. I should have one in Magnacut coming next week.
Dogbone? I can’t get over how good that model knife looks and feels. My son took a look at it and wants to order one as well. My husband is up at camp so I’m going to sleep next to these tonight. Lolol.

Yea, secondhand but with 3 sheaths and 2 sets of handle scales. It’s all black which isn’t my style, but should work the same regardless.

Blade grind looks good. I'm not a fan of frame locks, though.
I never was, until they started adding "thumb savers". Now, I greatly prefer liner locks. It makes one-hand closing much easier.

I also prefer assisted opening over flippers. I prefer unassisted thumb studs over flippers. I just really don't like flippers.

I’d just rather have a knife which doesn’t require me to have my thumb in the path of the blade when closing — like a button lock, axis lock, or side-opening automatic.

The tr-3 finally showed up, it was supposed to be here before Christmas. Deep carry clip from Lynch NW is a nice upgrade from the original. Now that I have the tr-5 and tr-3 side by side I will say that I like the ergos of the tr-5 better, but the no safety switch on the tr-3 is much preferred. I think the tr-5 without a safety would be perfect. I keep finding that sometimes I'm activating the safety while slipping it in my pocket without noticing. Its really irritating when you take the knife out, hit the button and nothing happens.

I get that, and that was my objection for 40+ years, until thumbsavers came along.

That way, the blade is physically blocked from closing on your thumb, until your thumb is out of the way. Think of it as a transfer block safety. ;)

She paid too much and spent more money than I would have but it's the thought that counts. My wife bought me a Benchmade PSK Carbon Fiber and Black G10 for Christmas. Must have been a good salesman at KTP to get her to spend that kind of $$ on a knife. Beautiful knife. Super clean edge and sharp. I'm not super knowledgable about high end knifes but there is no doubt this is the best knife I have owned.

She’s purdy.
Seeing how nice that looks I'm kicking myself a bit for not ordering one just like that. That DE version looks very well done.

I went ahead and ordered a V2 work knife in PVD coated Magnacut. It has a blade design I like for processing small game but will have a much heavier build than my two bird and trout knives. I bag a lot of pheasants each season and they are on the big side for processing with a bird and trout size knife, plus I'd prefer something more beefy for legs etc. I can get breast fillets in seconds but need to keep edges scalpel sharp- thus the interest in Magnacut.

I’ll be watching for dauntless mfg to make a 4” or 5” fixed blade model. I have enough “small” knives.
Their Persian is 4.1" long and 1/4" thick. I don't think any are available at this time but sounds like they'll put some out this year. They plan to release a Bowie style knife as well.

Did anyone get the dogbone-k? I’m thinking it may be a bit better for edc than the standard. Not much information out there though.

The blade on the standard one is on the small side, and I can’t imagine giving up any more grip. I considered the k when I ordered but after handling the standard I personally wouldn’t go smaller.

This. The regular dogbone blade is about as short as I'd ever want to go with any EDC knife, given its width.
