No.Is this normal for a scandium framed 1911?
Resounding no. Must be a burr on that thumb safety
I bought it used a couple weeks ago, no scratches at time of purchase and he said he put only a few rounds through it. I baby my guns, all I did was shoot it lolThe lower scratch isn't even in the direction of the arc shaped movement of the safety. What the gun pre-abused or did you figure out a way to do this damage?
He scratched it and covered it up with a sharpie. Did it show up after a cleaming/wipedown?I bought it used a couple weeks ago, no scratches at time of purchase and he said he put only a few rounds through it. I baby my guns, all I did was shoot it lol
Yes I suppose it did. I shot it, then came home and cleaned it. Then it came out more and more.He scratched it and covered it up with a sharpie. Did it show up after a cleaming/wipedown?
ditto that - burrs are too deep to be from the operation of the gun - looks like it was pried with menace, using something sharp and dug into metal.Looks like thumb safety pry marks
Looks like thumb safety pry marks
I agree with the above , I also would guess a screw driver was used to pry of the safetyLooks like thumb safety pry marks
Does not look normal , but if you keep shooting it and all functions well you will forget about it.Is this normal for a scandium framed 1911?
The fitting is all done on the thump safety, not the sear. The engagement surface of the sear may be tweaked as part of a trigger job.Original owner probably tried to do a trigger job on it.
If I remember right, the thumb safety has to be trimmed to fit the sear, and the sears (and aftermarket thumb safety) come a bit oversized, so its pull it out, swipe it with a stone, put it back in, pull it out, etc.
Take the grips off and look for any punch marks where pins would be.
