Thats the way to do it.
My dads method works well
Buy what you think you will shoot in a year
Then every time you think your going to the range buy 2x as much as your going to shoot.
You should never run out and build a nice stock pile
Buy 1000
Shoot 250
Buy 500
1250 now on the shelf
Shoot 500
Buy 1000
1750 on the shelf
380 bucks

I was going to say you can do better than that ,but I see now that you are not local.
I have not purchased 22lr in some time
I stocked up on plinking ammo back when cmp had bulk cheap.
I also stocked up on some “better” ammo before things got silly.
Only ammo I buy now is mid grade match ammo for my 513t ans Kidd barreled 10/22
I top off around $13-15/50 there.

I have a better part of 15,000 rounds of this stuff. I love it. Mark IV, M&p 22 ar, revolver, Henry lever action, our two bolt actions all love it.
Broke out some old stock picked up from CMPbefore the great ammo shortage and before the big aquila factory fire
Golden eagle target (aquila rebrand)
Then some Aquila super extra . I fund this stuff shooters better than new production.
Anyway i was cruising through the 22lr offerings out there and was a but surprised how soem if the top end ammo is still somewhat “normal prices yet the lower end is all over the place.
I brought out the TacSol 22 AR-22 3x7 scoped upper and my old glenfiled 25 with a early 90s gammo 4X
100 yards glenfield was shooting a little high - I might have shot it at 200 yards , dont remember. I tens not to change zeros to often

Is recommending 10 round mags bad advice? Pretty sure there were no pre 1994 M&P 15-22's back then, let alone mags for it...

I just picked up an M&P 15 myself. I bought an extra magazine and probably get more because 10 rounds. I prefer the one that came with the rifle, a short one rather than the longer one that they sell. Can you buy the shorter ones? Anyone know?

The long ones are useless, especially as they don't have a follower with a grabbable protrusion to easily load them like the 10's do. I bought some long ones on line by accident, the pic was of the short ones. I hate them.
Do they make a single round sled for the M&P 15-22?

I've never seen or heard of one for it... Pretty sure its not the type of gun that would be used for those types of precision shoots... So the audience is probably not there.
