.22LR MEGA THREAD!

Does anyone know if they discontinued the cci copper
Need to stock up on my 22
Been grabbing Stingers here and there
And found out about the coppers, Seemed like it would be a good hunting round
Not sure if they are discontinued or not but I saw some for sale at 508 Guns and Ammo in Walpole. Not sure how many he has but I’m pretty sure it’s what you’re looking for because I had never seen it before. Total copper projo, looks kinda funny, and a very light grain weight?

@SS1
You looking for uppercut or these things? The uppercut are copper jacketed, not plated. These were copper/polymer and unfortunately have been discontinued.

Has anyone actually seen Norma match?

I can find Tac pretty cheap but wanted to try the match. My tikka loves the Tac so Atleast that’s good news

If you like the Stinger, there are other hyper velocity 22s out there. CCI, Winchester, Aguila and I think Remington all have hyper velocity offerings. Plain old standard velocity is a good small game load. Not loud or destructive. I think the CCI standard velocity is about the same speed as their sub-sonic but not as expensive.

Just checked the spreadsheet.

I have a cartoon of 500 (10 boxes of 50) Aguila "Super Maximum", 30 grain PHP, with a claimed muzzle velocity of 1700 FPS

Bought them in 2022 just because it was something different and available at only a slight premium over Aguila's other loads, but I have never gotten around to shooting any of them.

I would say in regard to energy on target they would be very comparable to CCI Stingers which are a little slower at 1640 FPS, but heavier (32 grain).

Kittery trading post has federal "black" bulk pack on sale. 70 bucks for an 1100 round bulk pack. 6 cents per round. That's my "buy" point for plinking stuff so I picked up 2 packs.

I still spend more than 6 cents per round on cci standard and Aguila for shooting when I'm looking for accuracy.....but generally when I see bulk pack plinking stuff at 6 cents I always buy.

Any particular reason I want Velocitors? I’ve never shot them but keep going back to wanting them. I like Stingers. Anyone who’s shot velocitors have any insight on accuracy? YouTube seems to say they’re not great. Is it wrong to buy ammo simply because I like the dinosaur on the package??

I mean we are talking about less than $0.02 per round difference in price…

Buy a couple of boxes and run them

like Tim said, they aren't expensive. I like them for hunting stuff bigger than squirrels. Heavyish bullet (for a 22), and high velocity (for a 22).

Accuracy is OK - shoots only a bit worse than Standard Velocity in a couple of my rifles. Buy a couple boxes, burn them up, refill the boxes with bulk stuff, enjoy your dinosaur.

I've never found Stinger to be more accurate than Velocitor and in .22 weight is more useful than speed.

However, any gun can shoot differently from another, so you have to test both and see what groups better, is more consistent, and cycles.

If I need velocity from a rimfire for more power or flatter trajectory, I grab a .22 Mag or .17. They're rimfire, so it's not like they cost a fortune to have stuff that's more suited for a specific task.

A brick of Velocitors showed up last week. Just waiting for SV to be in stock at TSUSA again.
