Found this comment from my wife on a copy of American Rifleman that was left open on my computer desk this morning. In fairness it was a $3000 Bushmaster [grin]

Pip, she obviously means that SHE is going to buy it for you, and she doesn't want you to have to return one (if you both bought one).

That's true love.

Ross beat me to it. Keep your eyes peeled for her sneaking boxes in the house.

Hey, it doesn't hurt to be optimistic, right? [wink]

I think your wife was just defining the upper limit for purchases. What she really means is that $3K is out of the question, but at $2.9K, you're good to go! [grin]

In fairness...

You can get one for $2,000. Then spend $1,000 on her - maybe a new handbag?

"This old thing? Why it's been sitting in the back of the safe for the last 15 years. I just decided to get it out and shoot it for a change."

Seriously: Her checking account, your checking account; your joint checking account. ==> No problems.

I think you should take one of her catalogs (Coach, Victoria's Secret, Neiman Marcus, etc...), find an item that she likes, & leave her a similar note. [laugh]
