Does a blackpowder need to be cased during transport?
A friend said the law changed recently. I was pretty sure a blackpowder gun doesn't need to be cased/ trigger locked/ locked up for car storage or transport, or home storage.

It's not considered a gun if using a primitive ignition system and thus there are no requirements for storage or transport. Would random Joe Cop know this? Highly questionable.

Thank you. Thats what I thought. Not that its a bad idea to do it in MA but its not required.

I'm a firm believer in "out of sight, out of mind" wrt anything to do with firearms (or non) in a car. Any evidence of guns/ammo/shooting just will lead to unnecessary questions if anyone sees it or if stopped on a MV infraction. Why give them an excuse to waste my time?

It's Winter. Just keep a small tarp and/or blanket in the back of your car at all times. As Len said, out of sight, out of mind.
